Democracy is at risk to the extent as to whom will be allowed to participate. It’s so funny to see what “crisis” the partisans and media pick next. Now the voting laws are threatening our democracy!!!! Haha. Chill out people. Fine to discuss the voting process, but this hyperbolic end of the world scenario that both sides are painting is nothing more than a marketing tactic. They do it with every topic. Don’t play their game. It’s getting old
Republicans are clearly pursuing laws and measures intended to make it more difficult to participate – particularly minority voters perceived to be likely Democratic voters – and laws and measures intended to allow Republican election officials to interfere with or even overturn election results they’re not happy with.
It’s important to remember that Republicans are fundamentally hostile to democracy – they’re the first to rush into any discussion on the topic to exclaim that the United States is a republic, not a democracy; and in our republic it’s the states, not the people, who determine who the president is, who determine who controls the Senate, and who determines who controls the Federal judiciary.
Through these bad-faith laws and measures Republicans seek to control most of the states, and by doing so control the Federal government – contrary to the will of the majority of the people.
