Definition of the terms TREASON and TRAITOR

no it's not. That's the most important point. If no one ever fires first, there can always be a reconciliation.
Who fires first is immaterial to the issue of whether the fight is to eliminate and replace the government of a nation or separate from that nation. The south had no intention of eliminating the federal government. They just wanted to separate from it.

A large portion posters here seem to think that any political act of which they disapprove makes one a traitor or guilty of treason. But, they do not. See if you can see what is lacking:
