The time to fix all loopholes (intentional or not) and make it where our own govt (CIA, FBI...) could never illegally spy on anyone / everyone was before renewing the Patriot Act....

Knowing that the largest political scandal / series of scandals in US history CIA & FBI illegally spying on citizens, reporters, the media, US Senators, USSC Justices, candidates, and a newly elected President had recently been conducted in the last few years, our politicians recently voted to renew the Patriot Act without making any changes to it.

The FISA Court released evidence showing the FBI has been illegally spying on *EVERYONE for DECADES, and still our politicians rushed to renew the program without making any changes to the existing program that allowed illegal spying to be conducted on everyone and enabled the illegal spying as part of a failed coup attempt.

No one will ever get punished for their crimes, and the govt will never give up such power. I would bet the CIA and FBI have already gone back to illegally spying on Americans.
