David Brooks, Time for a civic uprising

While all of us at our jobs are force fed videos and other education devices to make sure we accept DEI principles at work or go find another job and while our children are forced to have our children of both sexes share the same bathrooms and let them declare themselves "furries" if they think they are a cat?

It's time to get a reality check moron.
I happen to agree with you about the whole shared bathroom biz. It's a mistake, IMO. But that's no reason to give a moral degenerate like trump the near dictatorial powers people like you want him to have.

It is, when one's worldview is entirely binary and myopic.

Those that disagree with you are routinely marginalized as Nazis, or worse.

How is that working for ya?

Enjoying yourselves Adolf?
I'm fine with disagreement on traditional issues like taxation or the size of government. I'm not fine when the prez tries to assume power the Constitution never intended one to have. And I'm not fine with people who not only acquiesce to his desires but support them. Nazi is a loaded term. I don't use it. I use the word authoritarian because that is what trump is and more than anything he wants to rule as one. Your support of him makes you an enemy of the republic.

So, we both agree with Trump on the issue.

Yet we, nor the President of the United States, has any power to stop them.

But Trump is the authoritarian?

You lost your country to the DNC long ago, but that does not mean you have to continue to surrender your soul to them.

The lack of intellectual rigor with which you approach these discussions makes me ask myself why I bother conversing with you. Your arguments are always reflexive and childish. Do you know any grown ups who could take your place?

They see themselves as patriots when in truth they oppose the foundational principles the country was built on. One being adherence to constitutional law.
As I've said many times, we're learning the answer to the question, "how could they have let this happen?" in real time.

This is one unpleasant education we're getting.

It's always fun when the non-conservatives take it upon themselves to describe what a "real" conservative is all about.
Do you support trump's constant violations of court orders and attempts to assume more power than the Constitution allows?

As woke Left wing corporations around the country shove sugar and other unhealthy components into our food that has given us record breaking chronic illness issues that democrats apparently care nothing about. Funny how only "Crazy" RFK cares about it, right?

Get bent ass.
Sugar should be in the same drug category as heroin

At the least I thought it would take someone of extraordinary intellectual prowess to dupe them. As it turns out all it took was an addled, intellectually and morally bankrupt buffoon with extraordinary skills as a conman.

Any cult worth their salt will tell you, disown or refuse to talk to anyone who refuses to convert to their way of thinking

So, if you are to remain a DNC cultist, that is a wise position to have.

Now go celebrate a society that continues to allow boys to use the same bathroom little girls, or even better, a society that continues to allow those same boys to dominate girl sporting activities cuz apparently Hitler is not authoritarian enough to stop it himself.

Thanks for playing

I learned in 2016 that America isn't what I thought it was.

There was no way we'd fall for something like this. No way.

Admittedly, it took me a few years to come to terms with it, but I finally did.

In his book “Upheaval,” Jared Diamond looked at countries that endured crises and recovered. He points out that the nations that recover don’t catastrophize — they don’t say everything is screwed up and we need to burn it all down. They take a careful inventory of what is working well and what is working poorly. Leaders assume responsibility for their own share of society’s problems.

This struck me as essential advice for Americans today. We live in a country with catastrophically low levels of institutional trust. University presidents, big law firms, media organizations and corporate executives face a wall of skepticism and cynicism. If they are going to participate in a mass civic uprising against Trump, they have to show the rest of the country that they understand the establishment sins that gave rise to Trump in the first place. They have to show that they are democratically seeking to reform their institutions. This is not just defending the establishment; it’s moving somewhere new.

Let’s take the universities. I’ve been privileged to teach at American universities off and on for nearly 30 years and I get to visit a dozen or two others every year. These are the crown jewels of American life. They are hubs of scientific and entrepreneurial innovation. In a million ways, the scholars at universities help us understand ourselves and our world.

That is precisely why trump wants to take control of them. They are standing in his way of amassing absolute power.

That was just cover.

People wanted the "rich to pay their fair share".

What they got was support for using whichever rest room you want.

People wanted the banks brought down in size.

What they got was the right for male athletes to compete with the females.

People wanted the cost of health care addressed.

What they got was billions to fight stupid useless wars.
