It will be a long time planned, well executed operation. Nato interference will not be tolerated. Note that there are no Kurds, and that we can see based on Afrin how weak the Kurdish militias actually are (compared to the 50.000 they boast of). There are former "rebel" and ISIS units and they are vastly outnumbered by the Syrian forces. The last time the Syrian forces went out to intercept a spotted ISIS attack. This time they come to claim their soil and oil. And they will be smart enough to have air defense at hand.Pictures are released. There are that three "chemical weapons stockpiles" and the "chemical weapons facility" which consists of three targets. But in the end, for the result, that there is no result, the strike was carried out as an act of impotence, whether missiles were intercepted or not. The Russian reaction, nothing at all, is not much better. Trump is a big traitor of his voters but he seems to be under massive pressure to carry out such nonsense. Same applies for May and Macron. Russia stays calm, we can say it is smart, Putin prevents escalation, or we can say that´s dumb because nothing will change and there will be more aggressions when Putin does not put Trump in his place. Also, one can argue, that it is unacceptable for Syria to take all the punches that could be prevented. You are correct about the last one. But if you look at the other three there are one hell of a lot more than 7 hits. Syria and the Russian have the place locked tight for information. We just aren't seeing any exported pictures yet. The only thing we have to go on is three cell phone broadcasts that were sent out under the radar. That tells me that the damage is much higher than claimed. Otherwise the Syrians and Russians would release the pictures that coincides with the narratives. Your Employer Putin must be mighty disappointed in you right now.
The next hot spot might be Deir Ezzor where the Syrian military is after US-back forces soon.
"The US and Russian backed forces in Syria are preparing for a major battle for the strategic oil fields in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Monday.
According to the military source, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies have been amassing their forces along the western bank of the Euphrates for nearly two weeks now.
The source added that the government forces are planning on crossing the bridge that was recently constructed by the Russian military near the key town of Khasham in eastern Deir Ezzor.
If the Syrian military does in fact cross this bridge, they will be within striking distance of the Al-‘Umar Oil Fields.
This site possesses Deir Ezzor’s largest oil fields, making its capture all the more important for the Syrian government.
However, the US-backed forces are not likely to give it up without a fight, despite the fact they are greatly outnumbered by the Syrian military.
While Russia and the US will provide their respective sides with military support, it will be the latter that might have to militarily intervene.
The US Coalition has bombed the Syrian military before and given their latest attack, they may choose to do so again."
Russia, US backed forces preparing for colossal showdown in eastern Deir Ezzor
And hand them their asses on a platter once again. The Russians would have to take a step back on this one. The US has "Advisors" embedded with those troops. And firing on them would mean an attack on the US itself. While the US would not commit ground troops, the US would commit plenty of air power including heavy bombers, attack birds, and fighters. It wouldn't be pretty. The Russians just doesn't have enough firepower to even hope of making a dent and the repercussions would be too high. Assad brought this on himself. The Gloves are off.
Won't do them any good. The US will just saturate the defenses with enough garbage that the defenses will be worthless. And the SAs become legit targets and go poof. After that, the A-10s and AC-130s go to work along with all the other Gen 3 and 4 birds. The first strikes will be from the B-2, B-1 and F-22 on the Air Defense from hundreds and thousands of miles away. Well beyond their range. There will be enough decoys out there that the Air Defense will have no idea what to shoot at and what not to shoot at. Assad wants war? He may get his fondest dream. After that, the US, France and Britain go into a "Get Assad" campaign and Russia won't help him one bit.
"On 8 December 2016 the Deir ez-Zor Military Council was created during a SDF conference in Hasaka. The members consist of remnants of the former armed rebel council of the same name, expelled from the city by the Islamic State in 2014, having joined the SDF in November 2016 and former Islamic State fighters which have been re-trained by U.S. forces."

Note the symbol in this propaganda pic. It is a famous bridge in Deir Ezzor City, which they attempted to seize from ISIS just when the Syrian army reestablished a connection to their enclave in the city, effectively lifted the ISIS siege.
