Can't say I'm surprised. To take out so many targets so quickly from a distance the shooter had to have had some basic skill and training with a weapon.

Law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told CNN that Johnson was the dead gunman. He had no criminal record or known terror ties, a law enforcement official said.

He had served in the U.S. Army Reserve, training as a carpentry and masonry specialist, two U.S. defense officials said.

Army huh. So was the Fort Hood shooter. And the guy in DC who killed 3 cops. Lately there have been many military vets doing this.

Funny how the liberals aren't blaming the Army or including all soldiers with their crimes the same way they do with bad cops.

I think someone owes someone some money. At least if they don't welch on their bet about the shooter being white.

Don’t forget the shootings in Houston by a vet.

Are you blaming the army or PTSD?

Are you blaming the army or PTSD?

Neither. Blaming the person mostly. The media 2nd. The media has stirred this pot for years. Newspapers are dying. Media can't beat social media. So they need insanity and chaos for click bait.

Policing and race relations are nowhere near as bad as the media makes them out to be. Same way media is quick to show mugshots of scary black criminals to shock white soccer mom's and get them to tune in.

Media needs Americans to fight each other for their ratings. It's disgusting. They're making our streets more dangerous literally because they need to sell ad space and have to dramatically hype issue far beyond the actual reality.

So you blame the person mostly then write 3 paragraphs about the 2nd group you blame.

Maybe I know of a different meaning of the word "mostly"

Dallas sniper shooting: 5 police officers slain, suspect ID’d as Army vet Micah Johnson
July 8, 2016 • The sniper who killed five Dallas cops and wounded seven more was the sole shooter in a devastating ambush that made Thursday the deadliest day for a police force since 9/11, officials said.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings confirmed the identity of the shooter as Micah X. Johnson, 25, in a Friday evening press conference and said law enforcement officers had determined, after finding a trove of weapons and written combat manifestos in his home, that the shooter acted alone and that there were no more potential suspects on the loose. “This was mobile shooter that had written manifestos on how to shoot and move, shoot and move, and he did that,” Rawlings said. “He did his damage, but we did damage to him as well.” “We believe now that the city is safe,” the mayor said. “We can move on to healing.” The White House announced late Friday that President Obama will cut short a European trip to visit Dallas early next week.

Johnson, who served six years in the Army Reserve, died early Friday when police deployed a robot to blow up an explosive device in the parking garage where officers had cornered him and engaged in hours of negotiations that ultimately failed. Police earlier described the attack as “well-planned” and Friday evening revealed that law enforcement found rifles and tactical gear in a search of a home the sniper apparently shared with his mother in Mesquite, Texas, 20 miles outside of Dallas. “During the search of the suspect’s home, detectives found bomb-making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition and a personal journal of combat tactics,” police said in a statement. “Detectives are in the process of analyzing the information contained in the journal.”

Earlier in the day, Dallas Police Chief David Brown described a chilling exchange between Johnson and officers attempting to negotiate his surrender. “The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers,” Brown said. “The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter. He said he was upset about the recent police shootings.”

Five Dallas police officers were killed by a lone attacker, authorities say
July 8,`16 — Following the death of the five police officers who were killed in a shooting Thursday, President Obama plans to cut his trip to Europe short by one day, returning from Spain on Sunday night so he can travel to Dallas early next week.
“Later in the week, at the White House, the President will continue the work to bring people together to support our police officers and communities, and find common ground by discussing policy ideas for addressing the persistent racial disparities in our criminal justice system,” the White House said in a statement. Along with the five officers who died, seven others were wounded Thursday night when sniper fire from what turned out to be a lone gunman turned a peaceful protest over recent police shootings into a scene of chaos and terror. The gunfire was followed by a standoff that lasted for hours when the attacker told authorities “he was upset about the recent police shootings” and “said he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers,” according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown. The gunman was killed when police detonated a bomb-equipped robot.

After the bloodshed — the deadliest single day for law enforcement officers since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — authorities said they were investigating the shooting and would need several days to continue exploring the crime scene downtown. Officials said two civilians were also injured in the attack. “We are heartbroken,” Brown said during a news conference Friday. “There are no words to describe the atrocity that occurred to our city.” While police had said Thursday they believed “two snipers” opened fire on officers “from elevated positions,” authorities said Friday that they determined only one person shot at police. “At this time, there appears to have been one gunman with no known links to or inspiration from any international terrorist organization,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Friday afternoon.

The eruption of violence at around 9 p.m. occurred during a calm protest over recent police shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana, with similar demonstrations occurring in cities across the country. As a barrage of gunfire ripped through the air, demonstrators and police officers alike scrambled. The violence did not end in Dallas. Officers were also shot Friday in Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri. In Georgia, police said a man called 9-1-1 and then shot at the responding officer, wounding him, the Associated Press reported. And a police officer was in critical condition in St. Louis after being shot during a traffic stop Friday morning, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Police said Friday that Micah Xavier Johnson, a black 25-year-old believed to be from the Dallas area, was the attacker. Dallas Mayor S. Mike Rawlings told the Associated Press Johnson used an AR-15 assault weapon in the ambush.

Johnson, who had no criminal history, deployed to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army from November 2013 through July 2014 and was in the Army Reserve from 2009 until last year. Army records show that Johnson, whose home was listed as Mesquite, Tex., had served with an engineering brigade before he was sent to Afghanistan. He did not have a combat job and was listed as a carpentry and masonry specialist. The Dallas Police Department said Friday that during a search of Johnson’s home, they found “bomb making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics.” Authorities said they were still investigating the journal’s contents.

...serving in the reserve as a carpentry and masonry specialist does not sound like combat time to me?
Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson was Army reservist in Afghanistan, had massive cache of weapons in his house

Some who served with the former Army reservist said he was odd and a bit of a pervert

“We all knew he was a pervert cuz he got caught stealing girls’ panties but murdering cops is a different story,” Wells Newsome, a former bunkmate of Johnson’s, wrote on Facebook. “You really never know what someone is capable of until it’s too late.”

Luis Canto, another fellow reservist, said Johnson had an erratic personality.

“We all knew he was off, man, but no idea he was capable of that,” Canto wrote on Facebo

He served as an Army reservist for six years until 2015 and was deployed to Afghanistan between November 2013 and July 2014.

He was a carpentry and masonry specialist, with a rank of private first class, and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal. (that is given out to everyone who just shows up)
he told police he wanted to kill as many white people as possible, especially white cops. He was enraged after two black men were killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota.

sounds like someone who can easily be persuaded to do anything....perhaps by his own sister who had called for killing cops....and as someone having mental problems he should not have been allowed to buy weapons...perhaps he got them on the black market or stole them?

Not a combat vet.......one of those who served in the rear echelon doing carpentry and masonr work....and a pervert with mental problems. Next~!!!

Congratulations, you said absolutely nothing of relevance to what I said. You are officially talking out of your ass. Now sit down and shut up?

Sounds like you resent the fact I exposed him as a pervert with mental problems. Which group do you identify with...or could it be both? LOL

Was it Janet napalatano who caught shit for predicting that vets would come back and do shit like this ?

Keep that in mind whenever some nut tries to play the veteran card to embellish someone's credibility.
Keep that in mind whenever some nut tries to play the veteran card to embellish someone's credibility.

The media is trying to make it sound like he was some kind of decorated 'well trained' combat vet which set him up for this episode in Dallas.

In reality he was mere pfc(lowly private) with the sort of medal that was handed out to everyone who went over there...aka meant nothing...he might have been a well trained carpenter. He served in the rear echelons.

With the type of weapon he had you did not need to be an expert marksman...all he had to do was point it and pull the trigger.

So why was the media trying to present him as a well trained and decorated combat vet?

Either to make the story more dramatic or present our Armed forces in a bad light aka to attempt to make them responsible for this nutcase brainwashed with the liberal narrative.

Obama says ‘demented’ gunman who killed Dallas police officers doesn’t represent black Americans
July 9,`16 — President Obama on Saturday sought to calm a country riven by grief and anger in the wake of the fatal shooting of five police officers here and recent high-profile deaths at the hands of officers elsewhere. His comments came as Dallas continued to reel from the rampage while protests over how police use deadly force continued in cities across the country.
In Dallas, the downtown area where a lone attacker killed the officers in a rampage authorities said was fueled by racial animus remained quiet on Saturday while investigators pored over the crime scene and the gunman’s background. But in cities around the country, demonstrations over police shootings had continued the night before, some of them becoming quite heated while others were infused with sober reflection over the carnage in Dallas. “As painful as this week has been, I firmly believe that America is not as divided as some have suggested,” President Obama said Saturday while in Poland for a NATO summit. “Americans of all races and all backgrounds are rightly outraged by the inexcusable attacks on police, whether it’s in Dallas or any place else.”

Police say the attacker in Dallas — identified as Micah Xavier Johnson, a black 25-year-old from a nearby suburb — told them he was angry over police killings of black men, an issue that surged back into the news this week after these recent incidents in Baton Rouge, La., and outside St. Paul, Minn. Before authorities used a bomb to kill Johnson, they say he told police he wanted to kill white officers. “The suspect said he was upset about black lives matter,” David Brown, the Dallas police chief, said of the attacker’s comments. “He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”

Brown said the attacker’s comments were made during a prolonged, and at times violent, standoff that followed the brutal shooting rampage Thursday night during a peaceful protest over police shootings. This attack fused two topics that have roiled the country in recent years — mass shootings and outrage over how police use force — bringing them together in a horrific way decried by law enforcement officials around the country and activists protesting police shootings alike.

Obama said “Americans of all races and all backgrounds are also rightly saddened and angered” over the deaths this week of black men fatally shot by police officers in Louisiana and Minnesota. He also tied the mass shooting here to some of the rampages that have claimed dozens of lives since last year, invoking the rampages at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C.; a gay club in Orlando; and an office party in San Bernardino, Calif. “We cannot let the actions of a few define all of us,” Obama said. “The demented individual who carried out those attacks in Dallas, he’s no more representative of African Americans than the shooter in Charleston was representative of white Americans, or the shooter in Orlando, or San Bernardino, were representative of Muslim Americans,” Obama said. “They don’t speak for us. That’s not who we are.”

The Dallas shooter was a meth head. And he absolutely does represent black Americans. We have black posters on this board that sound just like him.

Does the low information left really think that all Afghanistan Veterans are skilled at "taking out many targets at a distance"? Maybe they watch too many badly made hollywood junk. All Marines are riflemen but some Army specialists never see a weapon after boot camp.

The guy was being trained as a carpenter......in the rear echelon....and after many years in the service he was still a private....any vet can tell you what that means....he was a cluster fuck to put it mildly and most likely only allowed in the service to fill some racial quota send down from washington.

We have a lot of white posters that sound like him too. What's your point?
