The objective of the new Russian offensive in northern Kharkiv is to create a 10-kilometer wide buffer zone along the border to prevent Ukrainian shelling into Russian territory. Russia has no intention to seize the city of Kharkiv. There is no need to panic.

An official of the Ukrainian military's General Staff told NHK that Russian troops have entered from the north, and pushed one kilometer into the region.

The chief of the Kharkiv local police reports that the Russians are "chasing" civilians and police cars evacuating them with drones in Vovchansk. He didn´t disclose whether the drones use force or just baerbock them. Most civilians already left the town.
One Ukrainian who didn´t follow Russian orders was reportedly shot. Others are reportedly barred from leaving the town and forced into basements.
