Career prosecutors looked at this case, and figured that it wasn't one they wanted to go to trial on, given that getting the guy to just plead to the lesser offense was enough to get him deported and make him someone else's problem.

I agree that uber and Lyft suck bt taking too much cut, but some uber drivers make...decent money. The drivers need to protest their company. Id say, if they want better pay, all uber drivers should go over to Lyft. That will send a message to both companies. Uber will have to respond by lowering their cut, or go out of business.
