It's different for men and women.I believe mid 30s is now the best time to get married. Money saved by both spouses sets up security. Much less chance of divorce. No downsides.
It's better for women to get married early, as they have all the cards when they are young, at their peak physically, and haven't become disgruntled with tons of baggage and sexual partners (lots of sex effects men and women differently)
Men usually have establish themselves financially and with status... they don't have much to offer when they're very young. That's why men peak in their 30's, women peak from 18-24 (as far as what they have to offer to the opposite sex to get the person they want)
That's why you're seeing a ton of women in their mid-late 30's unable to get a proposal from the type of man they want. The men they want aren't looking for them, they're looking younger.
