Today was the first day back after Christmas break. Since every member of my family got knocked around by some new strain of Influenza-whatever, We were a symphony of coughing and hacking for two weeks straight. Almost everyone is feeling better now, but the damage has been done. The inside of my throat is shredded. All I could manage today was a gravelly whisper. My students are usually pretty boisterous, and I usually address this in large part with a stern tone of voice. Well, that wasn't happening today. However, I was able to quiet the first class with some hand gestures and got the point across that I would be having a hard time speaking today. The reaction was astonishing. The students took to policing each other in taking turns speaking and answering questions. They maintained proper behavior throughout the lesson. I took it as a personal favor. They are really great kids. By the end of the class, I had actually said very few words, but the students completed all planned work for the day.

Maybe there's hope for our youngsters after all. Good news.

What's the matter, got a bad one out there roaming free? Thanks for the warning, I'll lock my doors
:p

I wasn't joking. I've got one like that. It happens. My youngest one is an angel so far, though time will tell ;) The other ones I've never met
