Have you ever even been to the American South? My nephew lives in semi-rural Missouri and when I last visited him, the hateful bigots must have taken the day off. I saw nothing but friendly, happy people who took life slowly and welcomed visitors with open arms.

If you were in charge of building a large facility, say for example, a research facility, that would employ hundreds of people, many with very high paying jobs,

Missouri_Mike called Anthony Wiener a Jewish ******, in the context of said Wiener being hounded from a rally for insufficient ideological purity on Israel, which if you ask me the people who followed him screaming and giving him the finger seem more racist than Mike.

And there was another post where Mike expressed incredulity when another poster recounted an allegedly racist sermon in an Alabama church. Seems like an actual racist would have expressed support for a racist sermon.

As for Missourian, I couldn't even find that much. I could not find even one post that was about race. Also, he hasn't posted here in months and his last post was to announce that he was still alive (for which we are all grateful ).

But apparently one CNN analyst has been watching…well, too much CNN, because she was caught off guard by how welcoming the south has been to international visitors in the country for the World Cup.

During a story on Freddy’s trip, CNN analyst Christine Brennan expressed her surprise at the reception the foreigners have received in the south:

“I saw some conversation … about how the rest of the world is looking at the United States and feeling that we are – it’s a foreboding image and that we are inhospitable. And here is a German tourist, and others as well now on social media, saying, ‘No, no, no, the Americans are great.’

So what a shame that that’s the image that the world has, many have, of us. But how wonderful, again, that sports can bring people here and show people that the United States and you know, the South is welcoming a German tourist in a way we would never have anticipated.”
