Some years back I picked up litter from the roadsides in the State Forest where I hunt. Much of the litter had laid there for decades. It took several years off and on to complete the task which included cleaning up dumpsites back in the woods left there by carpenters or remodelers (it was that type of trash). What is encouraging is that little littering has occurred in the years since. Also, the County workers have begun to pick up litter on a stretch of road adjacent to a popular campground.

I was once cited and fined for littering, by leaving political flyers lying around for people to read.

What was 'good' about it is that whoever read them...can't unread them.
