My two concerns are (a) a bond market that is a couple of shocks away from a far worse collapse, and (b) the fact that our former friends are done with us and sniffing around at new options and alliances. Over time that dimishes us even more than we already are.

If Xi gets the upper hand here, we could have some real problems. The best Trump can hope for is complete capitulation, which would -- at best -- make a marginal difference in the lives of Americans.
