This is a very slippery slope, when legislators pass laws that allow local authorities to confiscate guns from individuals based on "criteria" before any crime has been committed.

While we certainly see the benefit IF THE PERSON WAS ACTUALLY STOPPED from murdering people, but none of the people from whom weapons were taken have. And yes, it's a small number of people to begin with. but once the precedent has been set, once Florida gets a Democrat gun grabber governor and legislature all it takes is arbitrary rulings to be added, such as anyone who's ever posted on a forum and seems angry about political circumstances, could be added to the list. Or anyone who supports certain Presidents. Don't ever underestimate the radical Left.

"2. Identify the quantities, types, and locations of all firearms and ammunition the petitioner believes to be in the respondent’s current ownership, possession, custody, or control; and"


"(a) Upon receipt of a petition, the court must order a hearing to be held no later than 14 days after the date of the order and must issue a notice of hearing to the respondent for the same."

"(c) In determining whether grounds for a risk protection order exist, the court may consider any relevant evidence, including, but not limited to, any of the following:
1. A recent act or threat of violence by the respondent against himself or herself or others, whether or not such violence or threat of violence involves a firearm.
2. An act or threat of violence by the respondent within the past 12 months, including, but not limited to, acts or threats of violence by the respondent against himself or herself or others.
3. Evidence of the respondent being seriously mentally ill or having recurring mental health issues."

Explain that the the children of a co-worker who was a volunteer cop in a small town, and tried to calm a mentally unstable 96 year old man that had a history of threatening people with a pistol. That time, he did more than threaten, he killed a good man, a good father, and a credit to his community. Why was not his guns taken from his the first time he threatened someone without reason? If he had a "history" of threatening people with a pistol then someone (the LAW) failed on many previous occasions.
These were CRIMES he had already committed.

As was the case in Parkland Florida, there were probably many warning signs leading up to this. And many chances to prevent it. Maybe people should stop ignoring early warning signs.

If you can't handle freedom, perhaps China or North Korea are more to your liking.
