that's the problem with extremist nutbars... they don't understand that they're a really small minority.
poor dears.
Well, Obama proved that fringe radicals with no experience can take over the government if the opponent only offers little difference and they have a complicit press corps hiding their true agenda and not seriously critiquing them.
Keep it in mind.
Sour grapes?
Obama was able to apeal to a widereaching contituency who supported his agenda.
Meanwhile....the GOP keeps whittling down who constitutes a "Real Republican" and is shrinking down to that 30% rightwing constituency.
God/Guns and Gays can only get you so far
No, you rightfully point out part of why P-BO won. He had the slicker campaign, a complicit press corps hiding his failings and platitudes that hoisted the GOP on it's own pitard that they had abandoned in 2002 promising economic austerity and reform. Hope and Change was his slogan. Very catchy.
The problem was it is more of a 'Bait and Switch'. Once elected through a mix of good campaigning, agitation, liberal white guilt, and 'its-about-time-itis' wanting a black man, regardless of qualifications to be president, he was able to rapidly abandon all the slogans and go forth with the real agenda: transforming us into Venezuela on a continental scale. Wide reaching constituencies? No. Not at all. Freak circumstances that won't replay in 2012? yes. Jimmeh Carter in blackface is what we got.
The GOP ran a horrible candidate, Mr. moderate maverick who too many times crapped in the well for support from conservatives. He kneecapped his only conservative hook in Sarah Palin. He appeared old, tired and too entangled with the last administrations bad choices.
Nothing sour here. I'm just making sure you remember that it can happen. P-BO is now on the opposite side of the failing economy, the skyrocketing deficit, unconstitutional policies, siding with criminal aliens and other foreign powers against US citizens, encouraging an erosion of previous good qualities of life and doing so by forcing his party into the political version of the Bataan Death March come this November. There is growing evidence that he may be committing high crimes and misdemeanors through actions and associations of his advisors in fomenting crisis and collusion with politically radical organizations like SEIU, ACORN, COI, Colors of Change and many more.
All the GOP has to do is offer a clear, concise change from this corruption which has become endemic on both parties in washington and they will flush the system. This means incumbents who have been part of the problem must lose primary challenges as well on both sides of the aisle or retire.
There is a hunger for change in this nation. A change back to the lives their grandparents lived, or great grandparents, when people were much more free to live their lives the way they saw without government interference. A return to true federalism where the states had the rights to make up their own mind on how they viewed freedom inside the framework of the constitution, not to just become franchisees in some form of national government where they had no real power.
The one thing James Carville ever got right was this: It's the economy, stupid. And P-BO and the libs are going to pay for it, hard.
