CBS oximeter story

On the CBS Morning News today, a doctor reported that in the early stage of the coronavirus, the victim may have very low blood oxygen levels and not realize it. If caught at this early stage by checking with an oximeter, the patient can receive oxygen treatment that will prevent the need for a ventilator.

Gale King noted that she immediately looked on the internet for oximeters. So did I a few minutes later and discovered that at CVS, oximeters selling for $49.99 (limit two) were already out of stock online. Obviously, people who fear that may have the virus but have no symptoms are going to rush out and buy oximeters so they can self-check their oxygen levels. I expect speculators will try to buy oximeters in bulk so they can resell them at exorbitant prices after they create artificial shortages of the devices.

So, should there be an effort to ramp up production of oximeters? Or will Trump’s advisors tell him to avoid any “socialist” intervention in the marketplace? Trump will then announce it is up to the states to remedy any oximeter shortage.

Most of the chips are made in China anyway. They are pretty simple to build

They can be made in the US

Or even Italy where the Arduino was designed

Or even better, made by consumers themselves

they are easy as pie to produce by anyone with a pc

Pretty easy for 1 or 2 for personal use, but mass production requires pretty specific equipment.

Who wants to disengage from China? Trump loves China. He was bragging about his genius trade deal with Xi right up until he started taking flak for downplaying the virus threat.

Trump did not respond appropriate;y to the virus. There is not a single authority from anywhere in the US or around the world, who knows anything about pandemics that will say Trump responded appropriately.

The doctor being interviewed is a major stockholder in the company that manufactures the majority of oximeters sold in the U.S...

He cave to reduced his bullshit tariffs, because he didn't want his "easy to win" trade war going on in November. He already had to shovel $25B to farmers to cover his misstep, and he has yet to tell the truth about who pays tariffs.

Here's how he responded to the virus threat, until he started taking heat for dithering and downplaying:

Source?

Do see the little laughing head at the bottom of my post? Yes? And you're asking for a source?

Here's a clue: buy a fucking sense of humor while you're out picking up your oximeter...

Those breathing treatments are common for COPD patients.

A lot of chronic patients probably own one already and have RX for the meds used with them.

Ventilators are a last resort anyway.

There are a lot of things that can lower a person's bloodOX level. If you don't have several previous readings to indicate your personal normal, a reading now means nothing without previous readings to compare it to.

There's nothing funny about accusing a doctor of having a conflict of interest.

Trump's stance contrasted with those of other senior members of the administration, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who have called out Beijing for its failures to share key information at the outset of the pandemic, hindering the global response and costing lives.

thats called good cop-bad cop

never fear

we may not go to war with china soon enough to suit you but trump is the first baby boomer president to stand up to china and they really dont like it
