Maybe you could use a reminder of some of the things

I don't like many of the changes of Vat II but greeting people in the middle of Mass, though I HATE that... is not exactly the end of the world...

Top on my list is

priests who are not really Catholic

hey... does that remind you of someone else in the clergy? you know... at the "top"?

sigh

What do I dislike the most about the modern church? I'd have to say the members.

Better vetting of future Priests before entering the Seminary...

Pedophiles must be eliminated...
there aren't that many pedophiles... and the protestants have more

I speak of other irregularities (in priests)...

I'm not Catholic, but I used to perceive a little too much coercion in the Church's teachings. Is this true today? On the other hand, it preserved Christianity for over a thousand years...

Top on my list is the same complaint St. Teresa of Avila had in the 1500s. She compared our faith journey to an Interior Castle with seven levels and many rooms on each level.

The Church is busy welcoming everyone into the foyer of the Castle, and after that we are pretty much on our own to figure it out. Seven more levels, all on our own.

I am not happy with Palm Sunday and Passion Sunday observed on the same Sunday. I am not a fan of the "Sign of Peace" (the greeting people in the middle of Mass) either.

At the beginning of Mass we confess that we have sinned and we ask Mary, all the angels and saints, and you my brothers and sisters to pray to God for me. It bothers me that hundreds of people are asking me to pray for them, and we rattle right on like no one asked a thing of us. If we must greet each other, then that is the time to do it. Let's at least take a look at the people who are asking for our prayers, and whose prayers we are asking for.

Homilies are supposed to be a certain length. We once had a priest who gave the best homilies ever--short, to the point, and something we thought about all week. He was always in trouble for not speaking longer. Who says Mass has to be a certain length?

i choose to believe religion and faith are mutually exclusive

makes no sense

unless u define Religion as... I dunno... something nefarious

people need to be more precise w/ their words

and definitions thereof

i like long homilies, as long as they are orthodox.... the only kind i listen to... When i hear heterodox stuff, i run for the exit

ha ha...

you ought to go to some of the protestant "churches" i've been to.... then come and talk to me about coercion

in fact, if you go into a lot of these non-denoms and tell them you are Catholic (u ouught 2 try it sometimes just for the heck of it)

you will see something... maybe not coercion but... well, maybe it would be that if you consider people trying to hammer you with protestantism coercion?

The coercion I was referring to was the threat of Hell and eternal damnation if you break any of its rules. That hasn't been in Protestant vogue for a couple of hundred years.

sure Right dude

Faith is celestial , Religion is terrestrial

One can not assume the other's position

Faith is a belief system , religion being merely the earthy agent for it all

Through two millennium religion has become a hierarchy based on a faith that does not speak, it has no voice , other than the voice of religious hierarchy's interpretations

This then, is literally where the devil be in the details

you WILL go to Hell if you commit mortal sin and never repent of it

that is objective truth, not just some denominational rule... There are so many denoms

only ONE Church founded by Christ, the Catholic Church... check out history..

Earthy representation never works out Right one, that's because human nature always exposes itself in ways the spirt world would not.

View the spirit world as faith w/out barriers , all one's intents and desires are an open book

View the physical existence as faith cloaked in the seven deadlys

see?

well, not really... don't see relevance vis a vis OP

But I hate many things about the Catholic Church post-Vatican II

The Traditional Catholic Church is the true Church Christ founded. I am trying to learn about Marcel LaFebre or however you spell his name... who broke off and the result was SSPX

I am rather confused because Jesus promised that His Church would prevail over t he very gates of Hell.... Mt 1618

and it looks like Hell has taken over the Church... We see the heretic at the helm... Some call him a marxist... he probably is

so yeh... something is not adding up. Maybe it is the "modern Church" that is in schism... but I am gathering info on this, don't really know what to think yet. No, wait, I know what to think, I just don't know what to conclude...
