Carville: Democrats Will Win In 2028, Congress Will Increase Supreme Court Justices From 9 to 13

I don’t see a path to a Senate victory in 2028 for Democrats. It will be 2030 when they can flip it when they will need one of Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Indiana. Plus Florida and Texas keep getting close.

Republicans need to take Carville very seriously, and go ahead and kill the filibuster and load up the Courts

The way they are now, there's NO logical reason why Democrats would win in 26, 28 or ever. Carville has a better chance of getting knocked up. MAGA

I would hope that Americans of all political persuasions--R/D/I others--could come together to support a constitutional amendment permanently setting the number of justices at 9 so we can dispense with all of this periodic conjecture.

Whle we’re at it, perhaps we should also codify in the Constitution that the Senate must vote on all Presidential nominations to the high court within 90 days of a name being submitted so we don’t end up with Party bosses stopping justices from getting a vote.
I wouldn't mind a bipartisan effort to expand the court, which has had nine members since 1869, when the population of the entire US was 38 million. Adding four more justices could be done by allowing each side to pick two names, which the president would formally nominate, and there would be an understanding that all four would need to be confirmed in a single vote. Basically it's an all-or-nothing deal.

This would keep the balance of the court more-or-less where it is now, and give it four new members to deal with the currently 13 circuit courts. Of course this is exactly why the Dems would have no part of it. They are not interested in expanding the court to handle its role in a vastly expanded country. They are only interested in flipping the majority in their favor.

And Bidum was the perfect example of complete mental awareness?

You mean the guy the democrats historically booted out after he won the primary after concerns on his ability to lead for 4 years? Meanwhile Trump rambles, falls asleep, and shows random bruises, swollen ankles, and flop sweats.

Yes, you pulled a bait and switch on your voters, and inserted a candidate no one voted for.

Typical fascism.

FL & TX are wet dreams. In PA Fetterman is up, hope you primary him. OH and IN look like wishful thinking too.

I’d be in favor of shrinking it to 7. Unlike the House of representatives, the court doesn’t represent constituents. There is a body of law that needs to be interpreted. More and more the interpretation falls along ideological lines which I guess was inevitable. Shrinking it from 9 to 7 would guard against one ideology having a long-term super majority.

You’re right about the Dems in this case. Its a purely political move. The thing about purely politicl moves is that sooner or later the other political party assumes the same posture they’re whining about today. So codify the number of justices in the constitution--whatever it is agreed to be--and just leave it at that.

Not in my opinion

The filibuster protects the minority and forces concensus

True. Just the other day, 8 democrats broke solidarity with their party and voted to end the shutdown. Which gives me some hope to believe that should the democrats ever gain control the Congress and the White House, they may not have enough votes to end the filibuster. I ain't saying it can or can't happen, but I will say that the GOP should not do their dirty work for them. Cuz once that happens, there's no going back. Our federal gov't will become basic mob rule; no compromise, the minority will be totally shut out of the decision-making process and the majority will do as they please. Whoever is in charge will erase as much as possible the previous regime's work and implement their own policies. Rinse and repeat.

Consider this: if the filibuster is abolished then the democrats WILL increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court AND they will admit DC and Puerto Ric as new states, AND they will change our presidential elections to the popular vote. There may never again be a republican in the White House or republican control in Congress. So - be careful what you wish for.

Not just wandered around he also claimed to have spoken with dead people. Had just talked with people that were no where near the event. Hid out from any interviews.
When ever anyone pointed out that he was not all there democrats would go into defense mode. Telling everyone not to believe their eyes and ears.
The person that was actually running the White House was probably behind a curtain offering ice cream if he did what he was told.
They only dropped him because he blew the debate so bad they knew there was no way they could convince people that they did not see or hear what happened.

CARVILLE: So I want to talk to Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Alito, Justice Barrett, Justice Kavanaugh, Justice Gorsuch. I might be forgetting one. I'm going to tell you what's going to happen.

A Democrat is going to be elected in 2028. You know that, I know that. It's going to be a Democratic House.

It's going to be a Democratic Senate. The Democratic president is going to announce a special transition advisory committee on the reform of the Supreme Court that we could have our third branch of government has lost the faith and trust of the American people. And his president is going to do everything in the law.

He's going to point a blue ribbon, maybe Judge Ludick and the dean of the, you know, just the usual ******* suspects. All right. And they're going to recommend that the number of Supreme Court justices go from nine to 13.

That's going to happen, people. That's going to happen to you. They're going to win.

They're going to do some blue ribbon panel of distinguished jurists. And they are going to recommend 13 and a Democratic Senate and House. They're going to pass it.

And the Democratic president is going to sign it because they have to do an intervention so we can have a Supreme Court that the American people trust again. So just keep that in the back of your mind. And I would bet a lot of money that that's what's going to happen.

LOL....Given his track record of late no matter what it is, if Carville says it, democrats do something else. I guess that's a good thing.

That said, it does speak to one glaring fact.....The dems don't care who they put on the ticket in '28 because they think money and the MSM will make all the difference.

To be honest their best chance would be with Fetterman since his mind was rewired.

And no one will pay attention to the new and “improved” SCOTUS
