Sure they are. Unfair trade practice of pegging their currency to the dollar artificially keeps their prices low. If manufacturing is ever going to recover here, their prices need to go up organically. But since they won't do that we will need to do that for them.
Except that's not why they are beating us.
No, manufacturing isn't going to recover here because we are screwing with China, which has already moved past the "Source of cheap goods" phase and has moved on to "Credible manufacturing powerhouse".
If you want just cheap labor, you go to Vietnam or Malaysia or Mexico.
We have to address our own lack of competitiveness, not try to hamstring countries that got it right.
