Canada and Mexico come to the Table: Two Countries Concede on Tariffs

America, when properly run, does not let two-bit nations dictate to us.

Being a dick seems to be all they understand because they had their way with us the past four years and decades before that with only a four-year hiatus during Trump's first term.

We no longer have a globalist in the WH and the sooner lesser nations come to terms with that the better it will be for them and America.

America, when properly run, doesn't attack and vilify its trading partners and allies, and slap tariffs on everyone as a "negotiating tactic".

Being a dick is the only way Donald Trump knows how to operate which is why he's gone bankrupt 7 times, all while blaming others for his fiscal incompetence, and corruption. American banks still won't lend to him.

You no longer have a competent or capable person in the White House. You have a corrupt idiot who is determined to destroy the economy, so he can become dictator for life.

That's wonderful but wouldn't it be better for US workers if it was built here?

why HASN'T donny brought his cheap shit here to be made by americans? he had 4 years to do it ... never did.....

fail.

Canada earlier today agreed to drop their tariffs on American goods when America does. While I appreciate the sentiment, America should only accept that with a proviso of snap-back tariffs that are double the original.

Mexico agreed not to impose any additional tariffs, instead choosing to negotiate. Here, the US should demand that Mexico drop all its tariffs on American goods in exchange for America dropping its, with similar snap-back provisos as Canada's.

The take?

While I'm not the biggest fan of Trump, he won here. They caved. However, the tactic he used to begin with was tantamount to being a schoolyard bully. It was extremely unsightly. Short-term disaster, long-term gain, if you could call it that. There are more honorable ways to step on the throats of your competition.

Not quite. I thought the same earlier and was going to post about it until I read what was actually said. Seems as if Canada is offering to remove the "new" tariffs - not the previous tariffs.

Ford made the comment in an interview with CNBC’s Ross Sorkin Wednesday morning when the host alluded to Canada’s $60 billion in retaliatory tariffs on products imported from the United States.

Canada has been selling you oil at 25% BELOW market prices. How is that "screwing you"?

Because that's a lie.

No, Canada does not sell oil to America at a 25% discount, although Canadian oil prices are generally lower than the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI). The difference is partly due to the fact that Western Canadian Select (WCS) crude oil is a heavier blend, requiring more processing and advanced refinery units with higher operating costs to refine.

Here the thing...these countries that trump is putting tariffs on have the power to stop US tariffs....Just stop their own tariffs...and badda bing...the US drops their tariffs.

Easy peasy

Canada has a 250% tariff on US orange juice. Think about that. There’s nowhere in Canada they can even grow fucking oranges yet they tariff orange juice. I’m having a hard time giving a shit when they cry over our tariffs.

No we don't. And we don't have a 300% tariff on dairy either.

Trump is lying to you.

All applicable to tarrifs.

You switched that angle.

i switched nothing. donny has crap made over seas, whilst bitching about companies needing to come here & set up shop. he hasn't, he won't, because he doesn't want to pay a decent wage. donny is a hypocrite & you just can't admit it. it's ok, i won't tell anybody.....................................................

Stands to reason he will do exactly that or pay the tariffs.

he personally won't care, because anybody that pays for his crap is a sucker & he knows that.
