People absolutely reach bad conclusions when they’re misinformed; that part I don’t disagree with. But it’s not because the average person is stupid. It’s because the average person is overloaded. You can’t work full-time, raise kids, deal with bills, manage stress, and then also decode political strategy, economic policy, media bias, propaganda, and scientific nuance on top of it.

Misinformation isn’t the voter’s fault. It’s the environment’s fault. An overworked population with limited time is always going to be vulnerable to simplistic narratives. That’s not a moral failure; it’s a bandwidth failure. Expecting the majority to behave like full-time analysts is unrealistic. If the information landscape were healthier, the outcomes would be healthier too.

I agree with the overall point, but there IS a stupidity factor to in WHO people choose to accept their political views from. For example, anyone who adopts their political views based on celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg and John Stewart are stupid, and there are a LOT of people who adopt their political views from Whoopi Goldberg and John Stewart.

I still think Trump is one of the greatest presidents ever, but if asked if he has flaws?? well of course he does.
How important are those flaws? not always so great.. I mean he gets things done and apparently seems to have a plan even when people think he's doing things randomly. He actually makes an attempt to fulfill what he promised which is more than most presidents do.
I dont think anyone here is a fence sitter by talking openly about their perceptions.

I understand what you’re saying, however, these self proclaimed “independents” always start these threads from the perspective of, ‘tell us what Trump’s doing wrong’… I never see one about Dem leaders. Then we have to read page after page of “Duopoly”, “Uniparty” bullshit, from people who often don’t vote, but think they’re smarter than anyone else, bash America, and our system.

I do and I have. Some stupidity from my side of the aisle:

--10 Commandments posted in school
--Enforcing the recitation of the Lord's Prayer in school
--All students in every school across the US are "indoctrinated" by teachers
--Live cameras in all public schools

I was in education so that's the profession I know best, and can easily spot stupidity from my side in this arena.

As a right-leaning son of a teacher who was raised in a christian home, I have NEVER understood the drive and desire to place the 10 commandments in public schools. It's stupid and such a strange hill to die on. There are so many more important issues to focus on in regards to problems in education...

I think liberals are out to lunch on energy options. Hopefully wind and solar will shoulder more and more of the load going forward but they aren’t there yet. Nuclear is. Any discussion of the topic is a non-starter.

It is risky and there needs to be enhanced regulation--I recommend that all plants are run by the US Navy. Its a win-win-win. We have like what 54 plants in the US. The Navy staffs the plants spawning not only water tight (pun intended) regulations without a profit motive so there is no cutting corners and ignoring safety but also a great training ground for future engineers. Customers get a dependable power supply that is much cleaner than coal or petroleum. And the utilities get out from under the onerous costs of managing plants and focus on what makes them money...marketing electricity.

As for scandals, Obama had straight up scandals. The IRS scandal was the definition of a scandal. There were policies in place. They were ignored. The VA scandal involved falsification of records. TTBOMK...nobody has been offcially reprimanded much less sent to the slammer which you’d think endangering veterans would require.

Both parties need to come together to get rid of the presidential pardon. The Democrats have zero room to complain about the laughable extent of the Trump pardons--Darryl Straweberry got pardoned the other day!!!!.
