Can Trump Shutter the Department of Education?

You guess wrong. Created by EO=can be deleted by EO.
It wasn't created by an EO. The Education Department was created by a law passed by Congress and signed into law by President Carter.

I am all for dismantling the Ed.D. but it must be done by Congress and essential services reassigned to other departments. Even Trump mentions that in his EO if you care to read it.

Suffice to say, scrap the education department so you folks can start learning and speaking correct English.
Your people talk like you have a mouth full of marbles sometimes and we need a translator.

Robin Williams once joked that race driver Jackie Stewart was the only man who spoke English that still needed a translator!

You're right about the bill thing. I just read that many essential services were not folded into it anyway.

YOU claimed to know what Common Core is. I only claimed that I have witnessed the changes in education as a result. That's not ignorant. The idiotic methods unfolded right along with the "standards". I see it as a veiled New World Order attempt to indoctrinate and categorize our youth. It's like when a corporation renames an established accounting principle in their own corporate lingo. If you don't accept and use that standard, you don't move up...even you can still arrive at the same answer your own way. That is exactly what common core was designed to do: Indoctrinate. As I said, if you want to just go around quoting definitions knock yourself out. Those definitions don't do reality any justice.
.

My late husband, who was a teacher, saw the changes. I remember the conversation with a good friend of his, who taught with him at that time, talking about those same changes. They hated them.

Trump just ended the federal Dept. of education... before you feel bad for these people who set the curriculum and establish woke rules onto schools... check their performance... we are graduating uneducated kids... they are being taught by DEI teachers and professors with political agendas who know less than their students in some cases...
Good riddance...

The Education Department has never set curriculum for schools. That is done by the state and local school systems. You are incorrect, sir! The federal government has no impact on my curriculum during my 21 years as a teacher and administrator.

Certainly, Congress budgets money for the Dept of Ed, but if the legitimate functions are simply picked up by other departments, can Congress intervene.

I call your attention to the following excerpt from the story:

"According to the fact sheet, the order also aims to ensure that, throughout the process, there is no disruption in the delivery of services, programs, and benefits that Americans rely on."

It is an absolute certainty that some "education" advocacy group will file suit in a Federal District in a Leftist part of the country, but how will it play out? It's basically a matter of "You made some money available to me, and I saw no need to spend it."?
Since it's inception, the quality of education, and test scores have declined. Time to put it down. It's the humane thing to do...

The Department of Education's role is to provide funding... collect data... and conduct research on education... as well as to focus national attention on key issues and make recommendations for education reform....
Is that creating a curriculum?... no but it supplies all the basic ingredients and incentives for the states to follow...
The states know their place and they follow the feds lead...

Point me to an example of this national curriculum you claim exists. You are so full of shit, you need a laxative.

Many states did not. Texas, Nebraska, Alaska and Virginia never adopted the Common Core standards and 5 later repealed their adoption. At the end of Common Core, most states copied the same standards, changed maybe one of two, and then gave it a new name to avoid all the falsehoods thrown at it. Educators are smart like that.

Regardless this will improve education and the teachers I work with everyday will be happy about this... if not now they will be....

Quite the list this dude made up.

This one is a great one:

11. Very few experienced teachers who’ve taught in the trenches were consulted in establishing these standards.

Same applies here on this message board.

We have so-called self proclaimed experts that have NEVER spent a day in the Public School, but someone they are experts.
