Can the federal government force gun registration? How about state voter information registration?

Why does the right wing complain about gun registration if they are for, voter registration?

I agree - especially FEDERAL voter registration. Which would be used for nefarious purposes - including voter suppression.

Voter registration protects the vote...by making sure you can't vote in two different locations.....

So, you don't mind Big Government requiring your state to give them your personal voting information?

From the OP:

The requested information includes the “full first and last names of all registrants, middle names or initials if available, addresses, dates of birth, political party (if recorded in your state), last four digits of social security number if available, voter history (elections voted in) from 2006 onward, active/inactive status, cancelled status, information regarding any felony convictions, information regarding voter registration in another state, information regarding military status, and overseas citizen information.”

It is an official investigation into criminal activity numb nuts....they aren't just handing it out to anyone....and when you are investigating the democrats committing crimes, you need to gather information....And guess what....if someone uses a gun..they are going to find out who owned that gun....and who sold it..without having to register it.....

So you are saying you don't want guns registered...that is good to know......

Why is the Republican Trump Administration the first administration to ask for a federal state voter information registry? Because Hillary thumped his ass in the popular vote? I don't want Trump's mafia to have my personal state voter information.

No...because after an election it has been too much of a hassle to do this....and the democrat attorney generals in these states refuse to investigate it in the first place....with the democrats admitting to conducting massive voter fraud...and they are caught on video saying it...and admitting to taking direction from the democrat national committee, the hilary campaign and the ring leaders of the voter fraud operations going to the White House over and over again to meet with obama...it was finally time to investigate democrat voter fraud....

The democrat operatives who admitted to coordinating voter fraud, their ties to the DNC and hilary as well as obama...and which states they targeted and how they did the voter fraud....

State officials are refusing to disclose data the commission wants, sometimes pointing to their own laws.

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump’s commission on election integrity is facing significant hurdles, as multiple state election officials have said they will not comply with the panel’s request this week for specific, sensitive voter information.

Even some Republican officials have said that they may be opposed to or prohibited from releasing such information or that they’re otherwise willing to do only the bare minimum in satisfying the Trump commission’s demands.

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R), the commission’s vice chair who signed the letter sent to the states on Wednesday, told the Kansas City Star that his state would not release the last four digits of voters’ Social Security numbers because that information is not publicly available.

Critics are fearful that sensitive private data could become public if given to the commission and that investigators will use that information to create an inaccurate picture of voter fraud ― a relatively rare phenomenon in the U.S.

Does anyone believe Trump is asking for this information for honorable reasons? Anyone who is against a federal gun registry should also be against a federal voter registry of personal information. I thought Trump and his base were all about "smaller" government. Should the federal government be allowed to force states to provide this information? Just imagine if President Obama had requested such information.

Will we see an, "exodus to go to federal sanctuary districts, to avoid State voter registration"?

There is a constitutional right to bear arms.

There is no constitutional right to vote.

Really? I beg to differ. BTW, the antiquated 2nd Amendment is confusing and only applies to arms of the time it was written.

As Professor Epps makes clear, not only is there a right to vote in the Constitution, but it’s the single right that appears most often in the Constitution’s text – five times in all. In fact, four separate Amendments – the 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th – even use the same powerful language to protect it:

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged . . . .”

Yes, There Is A Right To Vote In The Constitution
So the bill of rights only applies to devices in use at the time? So you have no right to expect privacy on your phones computers or any other electronic device. News sources have no rights since all of the technology used by them is new and not available in the 1790's. Shall I go on with this ridiculous statement of yours? As for voting...... There is no right to prevent the Government from acquiring and using data by voters as all that came long after the supposed rights were created. You are the one claiming rights only apply to stuff from when the right was created.

Gun Registration goes against the 14th Amendment....according to the Haynes v. United States Supreme Court ruling, criminals do not have to register their illegal guns...that would mean only law abiding people would be legally required to register their guns........I know you don't see the problem with this, but normal people do....

And no one is going to use voter information to take away the Right to vote.....we have example after example of governments registering guns and then banning and confiscating them......Germany, Britain, Australia......and various makes and models of guns have been registered, then banned in California and New York....

So you say. The commission refuses to say why they want them. They could be used to intimidate anyone who has certain surnames into not voting. This could be a attempt to use voter intimidation.

Who cares what a Trump sycophant thinks. There has been no evidence of massive fraud. In Ohio, 80 people have been charged with over 2 million people voting.

Actually RETARD your side demands an investigation claiming it never happened, then when the investigation appears your side runs in terror trying to deny the information to prove they are right.

How quickly the hypocrisy is exposed for gun lickers. Don't DARE register our guns, that's communism. Registering voters, oh no big deal that's the type of communism conservatives love. Control and suppression of opposition voting is one of the wet dreams of Republicans.

The Constitution is clear ONE PERSON ONE VOTE. Registration provides the means to ensure that is true. There is no reason to register firearms no government function system or law is improved made to work better or any part of the 2nd amendment that requires it to ensure people can own firearms. In fact history teaches us that registration of firearms is used for one thing and that is the seizure of firearms.

Said amendments illustrate the conditions for which any right of citizens to vote may NOT be denied or abridged. Voting may be denied for reasons other than those outlined, since there is no general right-to-vote mandated or defined anywhere in the Constitution. If you disagree, post the text.

Have a laugh. See what Haynes really says:

Haynes v. United States - Wikipedia

Through the ACA, the federal government forced millions of Americans to purchase a product, whether they wanted it ir not, or be taxed as monetary punishment for not doing so.

That should answer your question.

Will people go along with it? That is a seperate question.

They want to make sure that convicted bank robbers can't vote, but they don't mind if they can purchase firearms.

There are countless examples of that. Your spin is like saying that the government forces you to have children because it taxes you as 'monetary punishment' if you don't.

lol, the Republican replacement to Obamacare does the same thing.

no shit?.....you mean they didnt consider automatic weapons?....

So the rest of the Constitution only applies to the time it was written. Free speech doesn't include TV, radio, the internet, billboards, etc.

How can that stupid argument still be made by anyone?

No.....it is a federal investigation into voter fraud......what is so hard for you people to understand......you didn't care when the IRS targeted conservative groups or when obama targeted the Fox news reporter and his family, or when they started unmasking Trump associates, but an actual investigation that will expose democrat voter fraud, now you are concerned...
