Cameras monitoring ALL American streets; good or bad idea?

What?
Cameras lie, we are the land of innocent until proven guilty, you.don't know what altercation happened before the camera caught it between two people

There are trials in America to examine evidence and footage from cameras is evidence.
It sways a jury , you know pictures say more then words , people make up their mind real fast , its not justice

Do you think it would be a good or bad idea to have cameras monitoring ALL American streets? Do you think that crime rates would drop? Would you feel safer on the streets?

I think that it is a good idea, that crime rates would drop, and yes I would feel safer on the streets.

You all who think this is a good idea, do the USSR proud.

You all know what goes good with cameras? Electronic monitoring bracelets. You guys want to wear one of those?
Seeing as how you are giving up freedoms to the government.

And are not a couple of you posters Repubs who are all concerned about intrusive government? LMAO. Or are you all Dems and want intrusive government? Can't tell the difference anymore.

Electronic monitoring bracelets... LMAO.

You're thinking too small, too 1980s...

Think subcutaneous RFID microchips... Now we're talking...

Now, do you wanna talk about banks? Or as your first post indicated, and I responded to, do you wanna talk about government placed cameras on American streets?

You know the difference between "private" and "government"? Sure you do. So why you trying to change the channel?

Well the government serves (or is supposed to serve) the will of the people; the American government is not supposed to rule the people...so cameras on the streets would be the will of the people just like cameras in banks & convenience stores are the will of whoever rightfully controls those entities.

Put a camera at every government workers desk first.

To me that would be private (an invasion of privacy perhaps) and not public.

I guess you forgot who pays the public.sector

We do they work for us,.so it is not an invasion of Privacy

Solve the unemployment problem, have a cop escort every person everywhere they go. If you are not breaking the law then why would you have a problem sharing a latte with your LEO?

The one crime I might consider using them for is Jay walking. I would assume it would also reduce vandalism.

Under your line of reasoning, then the American people could ALSO TELL the government to REMOVE those cameras. Good luck with that.

When have you ever heard of something like that (removing cameras) occurring post Patriot Act? Unless you count red light cameras. Which would be a valid point. Except that red light cameras are revenue generators and could affect large numbers of people. Surveillance cameras watch large numbers but don't actively infringe on peoples life's. Yet.

Jesus Christ... Am I reading this right? Do you actually trust the government this much? That disturbs me. Seriously.

Why are you so willing to turn over so much to our government?

Why stop there, with cameras on every street corner? Why not allow them to monitor the amount of time you spend in front of the television? Or your computer? Perhaps we should allow them to provide all Americans with a daily menu? You know, healthy foods we all must eat... After all, the government only has our best interests in mind, right? Perhaps they should be allowed to read our mail prior to delivery? Maybe we should let them monitor our phone calls... wait... never mind...

Fuck you on redlight cameras they are just bullshit to steal peoples money

So you trust unmanned surveillance cameras to put people in jail. But not unmanned cameras to stop people from running red lights and maybe killing someone?

Is running a red light against the law in your state? Why do you care the lawbreakers are stopped by the usage of cameras. As well as helping fund police departments.

Don't run the red lights and you have nothing to worry about.
Isn't that the argument the OP was making. Don't break the law and you have nothing to worry about from those cameras. Sure it was.

I am not much of a law breaker either way. So I say get rid of the cameras all together. I don't want or need to be "monitored" by my government.

Go back and remove your thanks. You didn't mean it. You silly fuck you. LMAO.

What you so angry about? Been busted by the red light machines more than once? To fucking funny.
SLOW DOWN.

Hey you repubs want to cut government spending. Police departments as well get cut. They need money. So they took the monitoring idea and applied it to speed enforcement. Sucks but hey, where else they gonna get funds?
Would raising taxes on all be preferable to red light cameras?

We have 8 cameras in my maintenance shop at work and someone managed to steal a makita drill and it's charger a few weeks ago, so go figure
Put all your employees on a lie detector.

Those that refuse, fire, those that can't say they did not ever steal from you, fire also.

I believe we should insist the right "take point" on this and insist we really just need to practice abstinence and just saying "no" to disturbing the domestic Tranquility and security of our free States.
