Californians might vote in 2018 on taking steps toward secession in a 'Calexit'

It's bluster and nothing more.
I'm going to egg it on. Lol

No doubt. lol. There was chatter of Texas doing the same. While it's fun to rib our provincial differences, losing either would be a serious blow to our economy.
The rest of the country would be fine..those two states would probably be fucked for a long time.

I find it best not to entertain such wild scenarios.

Let's make it a nuclear war and turn San Francisco's Castro District into a radioactive crater.

A big hole that glows in the dark. The survivors will LOVE it!!

We really ought not to laugh, given how the conventional wisdom has been completely wrong...for all we know, Calexit may just happen.

Im not saying it wouldn't hurt at first...but the US would recover much faster than they would.

yup, high income folks and companies have already been leaving that state, just imagine the socialist hell if they had it all to themselves.

I can't understand why those people don't tax the shit out of Hollywood, they bitch all day about the 1% and do little about the ones right in front of them

Oh please do!
The feds will then have to pull a Lincoln and send in "Union" troops to stop the people from choosing their own destiny.
Wonder if Trump will get 600,000 people killed like Lincoln did?

In 2018, the issue of whether California should secede from the union could come to a head.

Yes California Independence Campaign, a fringe political group that calls for the state to become an independent nation, filed a proposed ballot measure with the Attorney General's Office on November 21, The Sacramento Bee reports.

If it garners the half a million signatures required to appear on the 2018 gubernatorial ballot, the measure would strike language from the state constitution that would help clear a path to secession.

Californians might vote in 2018 on taking steps toward secession in a 'Calexit'
Let them go. Good riddance

Please excuse my silence. I've been busy drawing up a design for a giant saw that's going to cut along the California border. I

Ain't gonna happen.

1. They can't afford a pot to piss in...how will they afford a military? And if they're banking on the US still protecting them anyway, they'll set a precedent where

2. Any other state could and would follow. Why not still get all the bennie$ from the Fed while not having to abide by pesky things like freedom of speech and religion.

3. I smell this as an LGBT stunt to try to circumvent the overturning of Obergefell and the trouncing of deranged males using women's facilities.

California may be able to feed itself, but it cannot protect itself. And if you think the US military is going to abdicate that long of a stretch of its Pacific Coast access for a bunch of fruitloops and nutbags, you need to have your head examined.

Well that's what we said about Trump's Presidential Run.....
It's not gonna happen Marty. The US military would sooner let loose of its positions in the Middle East before it let go of half of its mid-Pacific coastline...particularly with Russian & China & N. Korea flexing.

Ain't gonna happen. Any move to do so will be a colossal waste of time and money. It will fail in the US Supreme Court.
