How can you have reparations if zero of the folks affected by slavery are alive today ??

How is it constitutional to force taxpayers to pay billions when they are not the culprits of slavery ??
Did you bring the same energy when Reagan paid Japanese-Americans reparations?

That's because the reparations were paid to the actual people stripped of their property and sent to an internment camp. Not descendants.

Although I agree black children should be in all black schools. Don't call it segregation. Call the schools Enhanced Learning Centers.

And further, California was never a state in which slavery was allowed.

No rational basis at all exists for the state of California to tax any of its residents, to pay reparations for slavery to any of its residents.

The state had no part in slavery, and no Californians had any part in slavery.

The recipients of those reparations were actual victims of FDR's concentration camps. People who had been rounded up, and denied the basic freedoms to which they were entitled. Not descendants a few generations removed from the actual victims, but direct victims.

There are plenty of black folks alive today that suffered through Jim Crow segregation or does that not count since you can't use the weak ass argument that on one is still alive today.

It's dangerous giving an 18 year old $233,000 dollars.
They will hurt themselves.
They will buy drugs and fast cars.
They will ruin their lives.

It's not slavery and should not get slavery reparations. They got affirmative action.

It will be the biggest wealth transfer to the cartels in history.
Yea, it will be a bonanza for the drug dealers and the embalmers.
Most people will blow $233,000 dollars in one year and not have anything to show for it.
However, some of the wise people will invest it and grow it.

California was a free state in name only. granted is wasn't widespread slavery did exist in California for a time.

Very few will invest anything. If they were going to invest, they would have done it by now.

Oprah is a descendant of slaves and a resident of California. She can add to her shoe collection.

What makes this even more nonsensical is that Newsom is already paying for all expenses abortion trips to California fo da po!

Even nuttier is that the state is still paying for the bullet train to the tune of billions of dollars. There really isn't enough money in the state to pay for all the pipe dreams.

What year was Jim Crow enacted compared to Affirmative Action.

And a law telling people to STOP discriminating against Black people does nothing to compensate them for actual racially motivated acts of discrimination.

But of course you already know this if you were telling the truth about owning a law firm.

It's unfortunate that they've tied the word "slavery" to the proposed reparation plan because that word alone will automatically invalidate what they're attempting to do in the eyes of most racists.

There was still a lot of unlawful, unconstitutional and outright immoral things done to Black people after the end of slavery that could be addressed by whatever they're planning although it is a fact that this ALL began with slavery.

And why are you all always so afraid that somebody might get something that you don't want them to have or don't think they deserve?
