Marx correctly pointed out that capitalism is doomed to be abused by owners who will exploit the laborers up to the point that it creates unrest.

Marx missed that the solution to that is a highly regulated capital society that protects competition and treats labor fairly. We are on the back end of the Marx theory that capitalism is doomed. You can tell by the consolidation of wealth into the hands of the few and the corruption of politics to money.

So the lesson is not “Marx was right, therefore communism.”

The lesson is:
Capitalism works best when democracy is strong enough to discipline capital.

We did that up until the 1990's.

In America, capitalism is held at bay by guaranteeing equal opportunity, not equal outcome. Our constitution guarantees that. Only in America can we see people rising from essentially nothing to great success. That's why people flooded our border when Biden stopped enforcing it. You are correct in that capitalism requires boundaries, that is what our Constitution does. It's not perfect but it's way better than any Marxist alternative.
