But I thought tariffs didn't increase prices!

Biden said his economy was good. People living paycheck to paycheck said bullshit. Trump said his economy is good. Costc are down. People living paycheck to paycheck said bullshit.
The braindead cult members believe every Trump lie.
Trump's economy should do quite well in 2026.
No economy goes from 0 to 70 that soon. The regulations
that Biden placed had to be removed, and it's starting to show.

We talk today, today. It is yet to be determined what the 2026 economy will be. Many businesses are concerned. They are laying off employees. Holding off on capital investment until the continual changes on tariffs and other fiscal polices quit changing weekly.

Just don't buy foreign made products. Problem solved. No price increase possible!

But the US relies on a lot of imported raw materials. Also, many things that are "american made" are really imported parts that are assembled here, so not really american made.

Where are those tariffs on those imported raw materials? You do know we exempt what we need and cannot get from other sources from tariffs, don't you?

Well, we pay tariffs on certain raw material unless they are on the exemption list, IIRC.

That’s your opinion.

Go a link to the current tariffs and on what countries?

There are still various tariffs in effect.

Which of those are required products and raw materials because we don't make them? You claimed they were tariffed! I want to see what products and what countries. I am not doing your work for you. You made the claim, so what are they?

Steel and aluminum are already produced here. So is timber and cabinets. That's why there is a tariff. Do you not understand the purpose?

I said that our economy depends heavily on imported goods. I also said that many of the things that are "american made" are really "american assembled", meaning we Import the parts from other countries and assemble them here for companies that are not american companies. He'll, even for some american companies too.

I never suggested that we dont make those things, I said much of our goods and raw materials are imported, and that its hard to have leverage because of this.

American-assembled products are often not tariffed either, such as automobiles. What is the current tariff on automobiles assembled in the US from foreign-sourced parts? Do you know or just spit balling again?

I don't think you know half of what you think you know about tariffs. I highlighted your assumption for you to verify, because it simply is not true. We don't import things we have here unless they are considerably underselling the market here in the US.

For example, do we import coal, natural gas, steel, aluminum or any number of products because we simply cannot produce them? NO!

Precisely. Optimizing tariff policy is always a good idea.

But you don't do it like a ******* caveman.
Trump is been right on everything so far. It kind of tickles me when anonymous internet guys think they know better that the most gifted man of the last 200 years.

I never said we cant produce them, but we import a lot of it.

No, we dont tariff the automobile that is assembled in the US, but, pretty much all american automobiles are made with imported parts, and those parts are tariffed.

I just provided you a link to a website that has an up to date list of current tariffs on some products.

Much of our economy is built with imported parts, even though much of it is assembled in america, most of it is done with imported parts.

  • Vehicles: Almost all vehicles sold in the U.S. are assembled with a mix of domestic and imported parts, with the "domestic content" (including parts from Canada) varying by model.
  • Electronics: Many electronic devices likely have at least one component manufactured in China or other countries.
  • Clothing and shoes: Less than 3% of clothing and 1% of shoes sold in the U.S. are made domestically; the vast majority are imported.
  • Toys: Less than 1% of toys sold in the U.S. are made in the country, with about 75% coming from China.
  • Other goods: Many other common household items, such as lawnmowers, barbecue grills, and fishing gear, are imported in large quantities.
There are very few 100% made in america items anymore.

this was the point of my post. You cant have leverage when most of your economy is propped up by imported items.

...and we need to stop and use what we already have.

Parts for cars are not currently tariffed. Trump cut the automakers some slack.

You have the completely wrong idea about these products. Buy American made and you won't have to worry. Don't buy from China.
