1988, you had a lot more voters in the middle, and white people made up 85% of the electorate. In 2016, they were only 70% of the electorate.

Trump is running on the Worst Plague in 100 years, the worst recession in 80 years and the worst riots in 50 years.

Donald Trump isn't Ronald Reagan...or even GW Bush Sr. If you focus on what he's done over the last three plus years and focus on the 2020 issues, then rightfully, Trump shouldn't even make it to November. Actually, there were a lot of factors that lead to Bush's victory, but the main one was things were still pretty good in 1988. Now, normal scheme of things, you let the other side have a crack, but Dukakis just ran a bad campaign.
