Brianna Taylor grand jury in

Or they could have executed the search warrant during the day, instead of 12:45 at night. Surrounded the building with police cars and uniformed officers.

Or we could try something as absolutely crazy as not treating drug addiction as a criminal problem.

Why do you demand that more police officers be killed?

As you know, and know well, is the fact that police do NOT make raids on a residence simply because someone is suspected of being an addict. You also know that simple addiction is handled in Drug Courts, all around the nation, in an effort to move those people to a path of sobriety. How is that a bad thing?

So will the city now burn?

~~~~~~
More than likely they will... No matter the decision by the Grand Jury, BLM planned to riot.
Breonna Taylor chose her boy friend (a convicted drug dealer poorly) and died because her boy friend shot at the police and was caught in the firefight. The Grand Jury found that the Police involved did in fact follow procedure knock and announce themselves before the shooting.
Kenneth Walker is and was involved in the drug trade and is basically responsible for her death. He should be charged with her death.
Her boyfriend wasn't a convicted drug dealer, that is a lie. Neither Taylor nor Kenneth Walker has any drug offenses on their records. What neighbor claimed they heard them announce themselves again? Her ex boyfriend was already in custody, so why were they are her apartment again? Why weren't any of these officers wearing body cameras? Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron is a disgrace.
Simple, they had a warrant, and Kenneth Walker fired at them, injuring one officer...Not gonna end well when you shoot at police....
I am shocked that you right wingers are defending Mr Walker's actions, you claim if someone kicks your door in you have a right to defend yourself and your family.
Except that they knocked, and announced....So when he shot, he knew who it was that he was shooting at...
A person is legally allowed to protect his home.
Not from police officers who have a legal warrant. You’re such a leftist.
The warrant was granted based upon lies.
What lies? Maybe it was incorrect but the police officers did knock, no response, gave fair warning before entering, no response, came in and were shot at first. If you are a police officer following orders (you have no idea if the warrant is based on "lies") how is that your fault?
The cops presented the lies (which I already posted a link) so they did know.
If they did then shame on them but if they are honest and the suspect did say he shot first, then they didn't do anything wrong. And Taylor was no longer an EMT. She was fired as has been reported and was a known associate of the drug dealers in question. Problem is the media lies so much we may never know the truth.
She wasn't fired. That is the lie. She quit an earlier job to take another. Those who will create lies to defend corrupt police actions know no lengths they will not go to, to defend that.
Its obvious that you don't know shit. You're the pot calling the kettle black. While a simple search shows that Taylor did "resign", unchallenged information also states that the termination form has a box checked stating do not rehire. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that there was more to the story than she just quit.
Yes, the employer was upset she quit. It happens. She had no problem getting another job but thanks for enforcing the idea that she was fired was a lie. Why would people do something like this?
What a desperate attempt to recover your failed argument. LOL You know as well as I do that "the employer was upset", is more conjecture and disinformation.
While "she was fired" was an outright lie. Why would someone do this?
People quit jobs for better paying jobs all the time.
Exactly, happens everyday now when black folks do it all of sudden they were fired or were a bad employee. Smfh.
Not true, it happens to all people when you quit without notice....Take your victim hood out of it.
Quitting without notice happens all the time and it is far different than getting fired.
Why would people make up the lie that she was fired?
“All the time”? No. Rarely and those people burn that bridge.
Which is a way for you to avoid answering the question as to why someone would start the lie that she was fired.
Any ideas?
She likely was. Who quits being an EMT
As the story goes, she was working two jobs, one as an EMT, and one as an ER tech. She needed to drop one to enroll in Nursing school. I can see that...My daughter is going through Nursing school now, and working a job, and let me tell ya, it is difficult...
I can see that too. Why is she hanging out with drug dealers and why didn't she provide notice? Why is IM2 a coward who blocks me?
I don't know, other than it seems that maybe she dated both of them...As for IM2, I don't know...Why do people act like they do?
What crime did she commit fool?
About the only "crimes" I can see that she was guilty of were poor judgment in choice of boyfriends and being in the wrong place during a gunfight.
What was wrong with the young man she was dating? She was at the right place, her home.
However the police finding a murdered body in her rented car in the past does raise some questions in my mind about her life choices.
Then, a moment later, he told the woman that "Bre been handling all my money, she been handling my money ... She been handling s*** for me and cuz, it ain't just me."
And later, "I can walk in that house (Bre's) and go directly to whatever it is no problem with it," Glover said, according to the documents".
Yes, sometimes you want to make a big show of arresting a drug-dealing, gun running, child molesting cultist.
End qualified immunity.
End civil asset forfeiture.
End the drug war.
End overcriminalization.
End no-knock warrants.
End militarization of police.
End mandatory minimums.
I agree with you on civil asset forfeiture, the drug war and if by over criminalization you mean DAs stacking charges to force plea bargains, I agree with you on that as well. Mandatory minimums are the result of liberal judges handing out slaps on the wrist to career criminals, so I disagree with you there. I don't think the police are militarized so I disagree with that one. No knock warrants haver a small place, I think they should be restricted to instances where armed resistance to a warrant would be reasonable expected. Instances like biker gangs, drug cartels and militias/violent nationalist groups (KKK, Black Panthers. Antifa and BLM are examples). Qualified immunity covers more than cops, it covers actions taken by pretty much any government official in the course of his duty so I disagree with you there as well.
Dating drug dealers and thusly part of the drug scene. Messing around with criminals ---will get you killed.
There is no excuse for this murder, racist.
It wasn't a murder. It was an accidental killing as far as I can see. She was an innocent bystander during the gunfight and when bullets fly, innocent bystanders often get shot. I think it was manslaughter because there was no intent on the part of the cops to kill anyone, they were returning fire. It was a wrongful death and the city got off lucky with the settlement.
Charles Barkley on defunding the police "Who are black people supposed to call Ghost Busters when we have crime in our neighborhood? We need to stop the defund or abolish the police crap"
To what? Please be specific. Change it from innocent until proven guilty to guilty until proven innocent. Or, perhaps model it after Italy, where the prosecutor can appeal a decision and try the individual all over again?
How about - Have an independent body do investigations and prosecutions of Police Misconduct, instead of the Police and DA's themselves. That would be a good place to start.
We could also end the drug war, because that's stupid. End no-knock warrants. End "Middle of the Night Raids".
There's a whole bunch of things we COULD do... you know, like treating blacks with the same respect we treat white people... That would be a thing.
Where do you get the trained people to do the investigations and prosecutions? It's an adversary system and all the trained people are part of it, so anyone you pick will be prejudiced towards one side or the other. Civilian review boards are a decent idea, but they still get their information from law enforcement. Do you pick fifteen random people from the jury pool and have a computer randomly select investigators from, police departments or federal LEOs from other states? With all the federal misconduct over the last couple of decades going back to Waco and Ruby Ridge all the way to the fabrications used against the Trump team. can we trust federal LEOs either?
I'm of two minds about this one. If someone kicks down my door in the middle of the night and I don't see uniforms, I'm going to start shooting. But the cops had a warrant and when they kicked down the door they were shot at and returned fire. There was right and wrong on both sides and probably a hell of a lot of confusion. The big issue I see was that the cops shot an unarmed woman rather than the armed man shooting at them. For that they should be facing manslaughter charges. Whoever sent them to the wrong address should be facing the same charges as well.
Gah.
1) They didn't go to the wrong address. They went to exactly the address they intended to, for exactly the people they were looking for, who were actually there.
2) Taylor and her boyfriend were apparently standing right next to each other at the end of a hallway. It's not really that surprising that she got hit when two officers fired at her boyfriend.
3) You need to stop throwing around legal terms like "manslaughter" when you don't understand what they mean, but just like the sound of them. In Kentucky, both voluntary and involuntary manslaughter charges require that the person charged be doing something illegal when the death occurred. Whether you like it or not, the police officers did not do anything that was illegal.
Grand Jury Minutes have been secret for hundreds of years, its part of the law.
Why are you so anxious to dismantle American law when it doesn't go your way?
Why should they be? In fact, they are made public in high profile cases, and when they are, it usually shows the prosecutors put the fix in.
The problem with a Grand Jury is that, as the old joke says, "You can get a Grand Jury to indict a Ham Sandwich", or not indict the sandwich, if that's what you are looking to do.
In this Taylor situation, the police officers were defending themselves. If that's a crime, they might be guilty.
No, when you kick in someone's door in the middle of the night and they shoot back, that's not "self-defense" when you spray the place with bullets. Let's not forget, you right wingers say (white) people needs them their guns to protect themselves from EXACTLY these kinds of government abuses.
If there is one place you SHOULD be safe, it should be in your own home.
What I had heard is that she was an ex-EMT, a job in the field of public safety, hardly a "medical professional with a good job". Chief of Proctology at Louisville General is a medical pro with a good job, not what Ms. Taylor used to do.
You heard wrong. She was working at a hospital as an ER Technician.
She was also dating an alleged Drug Pusher.
Guilt by association? Trump better watch out, most of his friends are in jail now.
Really, the police need to get body armor when going into black people's homes for warrants or dealing with African Americans. The instinct of shooting back when they are being shot at is too much to overcome IMHO. This would help to avoid this kind of this in the future. Fortifying police stations, cruisers and tax credits for donut shop owners for bullet proof glass needs to be part of dealing with this.
Or they could have executed the search warrant during the day, instead of 12:45 at night. Surrounded the building with police cars and uniformed officers.
Or we could try something as absolutely crazy as not treating drug addiction as a criminal problem.
Dip shit...they announced they were police......the woman and her boyfriend did not open the door so the cops broke the door down...and the boyfriend shot her, hiding behind the woman..which is why she was hit and he wasn't.......the police fired in self defense....
To be fair, if someone knocks on my door at 12:45 AM. it's going to take me a while to get to the door even if I hear them. I can't see any legitimate reason to serve this type of warrant in the middle of the night, it's asking for trouble.
So will the city now burn?
Police returned fire. Maybe her boyfriend should not shoot at police officers? Tragic.
And it WAS tragic. It appears that the only thing Breonna did wrong was pick thug gangbangers for boyfriends. She was shot because she held up a blanket - due to being naked, which most people would do, and since her boyfriend was shooting the police, they assumed she had a gun behind the blanket. She should have just let the cops see her tits and empty hands, and she'd still be alive. But what she did was natural, we would all cover up.
Actually, it appears that what Breonna did wrong was pick drug dealers for boyfriends . . . and then get involved in their criminal activities.
IF the story of the blanket is true - and I certainly haven't seen it anywhere except in your post just now - what she should have done was stay the fuck in the bedroom long enough to put some clothes on. Then she wouldn't have even been in the line of fire at all.
Because what's natural for ME is to not go out into the public areas of the house when there's someone coming through the front door, however they're coming through it.
This was a tragedy made entirely out of the poor life choices of Breonna Taylor, Kenneth Walker, and her ex-boyfriend Whatshisname.
It was from a post a while back, there were pages and pages of copied depositions and court records. Her claim was that her boyfriend borrowed the rented car. Apparently the cops found it credible enough that she wasn't charged with anything.
