Brian Wilson

Right here is my most favorite cover recording of a Beach Boys song done by country legend Lorrie Morgan.

I also love watching them when they made appearances on the Home Improvement and Full House TV shows.

God bless you and Lorrie and the remaining members always!!!

Holly

P.S. My most favorite song from them is "Dance, Dance, Dance".

We weren't close
but I knew him.

Such a kind and gentle soul.

He mastered music
he mastered people
he mastered California,
He transcended hollywood,
he captured humanity

In

such a kind and gracious way.

I'm not sure if
anybody's ever done that before.

So long old friend..

The Beach Boys are just creepy to me. I saw a movie about them not too long ago. Didn't one of them get mixed up with the Manson family? Let's put it this way. After seeing the story, if you asked me if I would have liked to be a member of the Beach Boys, I'd say no fucking way.

And then I hear that song "lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did" by Barenaked Ladies. It bothers me. What is it about? Why is this guy such a legend?

The song generally tells the story of a man whose life parallels that of the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, particularly during his time spent with psychologist Eugene Landy after Wilson was diagnosed with mental illness, and, more broadly, with lyrics about suffering from comorbid mental illness and obesity.

Why is it this guy is such a legend?

When Paul McCarthy and John Lennon are in awe of your songwriting, yes, you are a Legend.

Seriously?

100 million records sold in the 1960's and 1970's

No simple downloads for billion of people. We had to drive to a record store. We had to buy a vinyl record then take it home to play.

So the fact that the Beach Boys are one of the most commercially successful bands in the world makes all members of the Beach Boys, legends.

RIP.

I know. I know this guy is LEGENDARY but all I see is weirdo. He must have been a genius.

Often called a genius for his novel approaches to pop composition and mastery of recording techniques, he is widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative and significant songwriters of the 20th century. His best-known work is distinguished for its high production values, complex harmonies and orchestrations, vocal layering, and introspective or ingenuous themes. He was also known for his versatile head voice and falsetto, which degraded after the 1970s.

How about Some people don't realize that Glen Campbell was a very good guitar player &:even did session work. He would play guitar on some of Elvis' hits. I heard he was GREAT at Guitar but the producers told him less guitar and more corny cheesy singing.

No I get it. But 1, I never LOVED the Beach Boys. Like Motown, it was alright but not really my thang. A bit cheesy. I have satellite radio. I never search to hear Beach Boy songs so it hasn't stood the test of time to me.

BUT, I'm sure every generation who's introduced to them appreciates it. I appreciate it. But this guy is like ICONIC and that I don't get. Wasn't he also good at Chess?

I just find them WEIRD. I watched the documentary or movie about them and you know how you wish you were in a legendary rock band? I would not want to be in the Beach Boys. Even though my Greek brother John Stamos was.

Hard to argue that. If I were going to argue it I'd say
"Weird Al" Yankovic's albums have sold an estimated 70 million copies worldwide
This reminds me of Ringo. He sucks but he's a Beatle so he's a legend. They try to say he has a "unique" way of drumming but it's probably just the wrong way to play. The way he taught himself in Liverpool. Ringo pulled off the "fake it till you make it" move. LOL.

You know who I loved that was corny? Crosby Stills and Nash. Now those guys are legends. Crosby, Stills & Nash, as a trio, have sold around 9.8 million albums worldwide.

So yea I guess 100 million is legendary. LOL
