BREAKING: Thad Cochran Campaign busted for illegal vote buying operation

This thread has denigrated to nothing but personal insults.. why not get back on topic and discuss the real implication that this race may be overturned? It would serve the GOP Masters right..I hope it is and I hope they puke over all the funding and dirty tactics they employed, FOR POWER. They wrote their own epitaphs.. damage is done. No Conservative will vote for that old lying fossil Cochran now.. they will sit it out and let the Dems have the seat..

No such implication exists.

Even if this story were true (which it almost certainly is not), there's no mechanism for overturning the results of a primary in Mississippi.

Maybe this is an attempt to distract us from the presumed pending charges against McDonald? After all, only one of the three teabaggers has *cough* * cough* committed suicide.

.

I'd think that, if this were true, there would be some pretty intense pressure on Cochran to step down. Something tells me he would not.

By the way, has Cochran done any interviews since the election? I wonder what he has to say about all this.

.

Silence is golden.

This is the kind of completely out-there accusation that would be a huge mistake for the candidate (or campaign) to comment on.

Responding to it validates it. They won't say anything about it unless it gets more traction.

@Nutz

Yeah, people kinda get hostile when you label them racist. So, if you care to apologize for labeling members of the Tea Party racist, including me, we can get on with life. I like you, but when you call people like me racist without so much as definitive proof, how do you think I'll act? Oh, that bridge in New York is waiting for you. All you need to do is sign the deed.

The Teaper movement is a racist movement...it is that simple. Not all Teapers are racist, many are - if for no other reason than their silence and defense of racist statements and actions by their comrades. No apologies until Teapers of good and common demeanor denounce the rampant racism in their movement.

Many many many blacks are racist, so what.

Your anecdotal experience in no way makes your claims true that the Organization is racist.

Case in point.

You have zero proof. Posting pictures of Tea Party wannabes in "Put the White back in the White House" T-shirts does not make the entire movement racist. Your experience in one supposed Tea Party rally does not make the entire movement racist. Those who are have misappropriated the purposes of the movement. By the way can you come up with anyone in the mainstream Tea Party movement who has EVER defended racism? Or can you find anyone in the mainstream Tea Party who ever condoned it? For the past week now, I have not been silent on racism, I have condemned it, yet still you call us racists. I am the antithesis of your contentions.

And there is no "rampant" racism in the Tea Party, should there be, I would renounce it immediately. But until then your claim is false until you can prove it, decisively.

Just as you said...silence is golden.

But mainstream racism...McDaniel! But of course, nothing is racist to a racist. Do these tea party rallies tell their racist comrades to leave? Do they ask them to put down their signs? Do they ask the racist white nationals not to recruit at their events....NO!

Well, I am of the belief that silence implies complicity. It could be as you say, though.

Many, many more whites are racist...especially teapers. Just look at what the teapers say on this forum then look at how silent their comrades are...quite telling if you ask me.

Proof.. you made the charge now prove it.

What exactly do you want me to prove?

Ever hear the story about LBJ? It's apocryphal, but it fits really well here.

During one of his early congressional campaigns, LBJ supposedly told an aide to start spreading the rumor that his opponent frequently had sex with pigs. The aide, of course, responded with "We can't call him a pig-******, it's not true".

And LBJ famously responded with "Of course it's not true, but I want to hear the son of ***** deny it".

A Jackson, MS paper has addressed it: Cochran campaign denies vote-buying reports

Cochran campaign spokesman Jordan Russell called the accusations of illegal vote buying "baseless and false."

"It comes from a blogger who in the last 24 hours has accused a Mississippi public official of being responsible for an individual's death and had to retract other outlandish accusations regarding another Mississippi elected official," Russell said. "The author of this article admits he paid his source for the story."

The GotNews report includes text messages Fielder says are from Cochran campaign Minority Outreach Director Saleem Baird, who is on leave from Sen. Roger Wicker's office while campaigning for Cochran. They include discussions of the campaign asking for names and addresses to provide envelopes of money. Fielder said the campaign agreed to pay him $16,000, but stiffed him on payment.

Fielder could not be reached for comment early Tuesday.

Church Deacon Robert Markham said Fielder is not an associate pastor at the church, but is a self-proclaimed minister.

Church member Melba Clark, a member of the Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee and its former longtime chairman, said she doesn't believe any vote buying happened.

"Not only do I not believe any vote buying went on, I don't even know who Mr. Fielder was supposed to have taken to the polls," Clark said. "I'm not aware of any people that Mr. Fielder took to the polls, or anybody having promised money to people. Yes, I think I would have heard about that."

And you're taking Thad Cochran at his word? Really? Well, if I've made a fool of myself in this thread, you have made a bigger one of yourself by believing the words of a career politician. Can you prove that McDaniel is racist? I'd love for you to exercise both lobes of that brain of yours and show me.

As for my evidence, we are far from silent on the issue of racism, as this proves. This is from my home state:

Georgia Tea Party condemns racist flyer | 11alive.com

Signs are free speech, and you being to one rally doesn't constitute real understanding of our movement. I've told you over and over, anyone who purports to be racist does not belong to this movement. They will be excommunicated immediately.

Really????? Don't play stupid.. It was bolded for a reason.

Do you want me to prove more whites are racists (which if so, why doesn't your ally have to prove many, many blacks are racist) or do you want me to prove Teapers are racist?

Do I have to use a source that you approve of or is a liberal source acceptable (albeit a fact is a fact no matter what source it is)?

Is it even worth my time...do you think all blacks are racists?

Do you think there is no such thing as racism?

I truly don't want to waste my time if I am trying to describe sound to a deaf person. And it is obvious that there is some sort of hearing problem because all you have to do is look at posts by your teaper comrades to see the racism oozing. Hell...just look at some of their avatars and siglines.

Do you believe that there are racist Teapers?

So he's not even a Minister at the church he claimed?

Better and better.

But Got News is a credible source!!!!

Why is this suddenly about my thought process when you made the ridiculous accusation to begin with? I think our society should be color blind, period. I've grown up in a mixed society where we date any race and think nothing of it.. it's the heart that matters but you leftists have destroyed even my generation's innocence with your hatred and constant labeling of anything and everyone racist who doesn't conform to your worldview or criticizes one of your own.. Ignorance is a learned behavior taught by those who have misplaced anger and resentment needing a constant audience and bad guy to pin all of their troubles on.. I'm sick to death of it and I won't play the leftist racist boogeyman game.. Now prove your assertion or shut the **** up already.

Doc, what were you just telling me about silence? You just told me that it would be stupid for the Cochran campaign to acknowledge these accusations, now they have come out denying it. They just lent more credence to them by speaking out in denial.

If I were in their camp, I would have ignored it.

I can't help it if campaigns don't take my psychic advice.
