After a bit of soul searching, I can't really blame Biden. He is right that the gun charge was a real stretch to use to put somebody in prison. Under the same circumstances, if it was my son or daughter, I cannot in good conscience say I would not do the same thing if I had the power to do it.

That is no way defends or excuses Joe's bad acts or Hunter's bad acts. But we all know that if if was any ordinary person on the street who committed that kind of gun crime, none of us would even had heard about it. And unless the person was violating parole or something or an additional crime was committed involving the gun, it is unlikely he/she would even be charged.

Hunter Biden indeed may deserve to be figuratively hung. But he should be hung for a real serious crime that he committed and not something so inconsequential as buying that gun that so far as we know was never used.

He pardoned him for everything he may or may not have done from 2014 to 2024….

That would be the rules that Hunter got pardoned for. The president can issue a pardon at any point after a crime is committed and before, during or after criminal proceedings have taken place. Doesn't that kind of tacitly admit one or more crimes were actually committed? Else why do the pardon if there was no crime?
