What happened? How could someone endorsed by Trump win? I guess easily is the answer.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry claimed victory in the state's gubernatorial race, as projected by the AP.
"Landry, 52, has raised the profile of attorney general since being elected in 2015. He has used his office to champion conservative policy positions" the AP reported.

Conservative voting activist Scott Presler, who was instrumental in get out the vote efforts in the state, celebrated the victory, tweeting: "Spent a good part of the last year working on the Louisiana gubernatorial race. People thought I was crazy for thinking we could win outright. Congratulations Governor-Elect Jeff Landry. Thank you to everyone that wrote letters to new movers. Holy cow. We did it."

Good riddance to another dem.

This is a big deal, dems should take note of how easily Landry won in a very crowded field.....Everyone is tired of dem shit.

Hopefully Virginia can rid itself of dem influences next month and bring all three branches of our government back into the gop fold and undo what the dems did in the brief time they held total sway.

yeah it is strange that in a red state the a republican wins and it all because Trump supports him as well as other high ranking republicans . Well the only reason he won is that the highly popular incumbent could no longer run due to term limitations. He was the governor from 2016 to present.

Well what you need to ask yourself is why a "highly popular incumbent" could not keep the seat for the dems.

Could it be that he went off the rails with highly unpopular leftist dem policies as he went along through his tenure?

A sign of things to come. The party that rapes children and steals our shit is losing their grip.

It's unfortunate they have such a strong candidate this time.

Term limits means that he could no longer run for governor.

The guy was popular and the party affiliation didn't matter because the voters respected the man.

You don't win reelection as the governor unless they like your policy. It appears that even republicans probably voted for him. He beat republican candidates twice for governor.

LA is a red state but they voted for the man who was the governor since 2016. He was in the LA congress for many years.

Hopefully Kentucky does the same, Daniel Camerson has a decent chance though he is somewhat behind at the moment.

The fact remains they did not like the dems running for his seat.....50%+ avoiding a runoff for a governor's race is almost unheard of in that state.

In fact only Bobby Jindal had won a race without a runoff. It marked the first time that a non-incumbent candidate for governor was elected without a runoff under the Louisiana election system.

Gov. Edwards faced two run-offs himself.

You dems have problems.

This story is absent on Marxist Yahoo. I can't understand why.

Dumb bell edwards wasn't popular in LA. He was picked by black New Orleans because that entire area is hard left dem and they knew Edwards would give them the free handouts they live for.

Finally, people are seeing just how bad dems are and are happy to put Landry in.

The only thing I don't like about him is he is pro death penalty and I am not.

Not really
Its a republican state. A democrat being elected the governor for two years is about the man not the party. Runoffs is just the jungle. The current guy barely got 51% Maybe the need to cut down on the number of candidates on the ballot. A bunch of republicans running can hurt them.

. Even with a democratic governor , Louisiana generally votes republican in the presidential election . The only exception was the good old southerners Jimmy; Carter and yes Bill Clinton.

Trump easily beat both Clinton and Biden in prior elections in that state. Biden from up north is not a threat in LA

So there is nothing to get excited about in LA Trump will win that state. Well De Santis might give Trump a run for the money. De Santis is a good old southerner

That's impressive in a field of 12. Hopefully this is an omen of things to come.

What is shocking about it? Louisiana is home to red neck fascist Republicans. They were going to pick up the seat anyway. Want to talk about special elections in swing states that have gone Democrat?

Because he was term limited dummy.
