The explosion in the Ansbacher downtown was not a gas explosion, but was caused by an explosive device. This said Ansbach Mayor Carda Seidel told journalists. Whether it concerned a stop and who lit the explosive device, is not yet known. The explosion occurred at 22:12 in front of a wine bar in the Pfarrstraße. It should not be ruled out that there had been several explosions, so Seidel. The bomb exploded right in front of an inlet in the hippodrome. There the Ansbach Open took place, a three-day music festival that attracts many visitors. The concert, which just ran there was canceled. Around 2,500 visitors left the venue. "Without panic, calm and orderly manner", as the authorities said. A hotel and surrounding houses were evacuated for safety's sake.
