Body of child believed to be from India found at US border | Daily Mail Online
It's not a humanitarian crisis it's a reckless, selfish, extremely stupid, awful, 3rd-world parent crisis. Do NOT drag your children across wastelands, or sell them to coyotes and you will not find their desiccated corpses crumpled under tumbleweeds.
Let's see...what choices do some of these horrible parents have? hmmm....
Severe multi-year drought is devastating Guatamala, Honduras and parts of El Salvador....one parent said - food won't grow here anymore, that yes he would send his son north if he could.
So parents faced with a choice of staying and and seeing their children starve are "reckless, selfish, extremely stupid, awful," for trying to save them by leaving...
Changing climate forces desperate Guatemalans to migrate
Adverse climate conditions in Guatemala affect food security by reducing agricultural production in both commercial as well as subsistence farming, limiting the agricultural work opportunities that make up a significant portion of the national economy as well. Rising poverty rates and plunging social indicators paint a bleak outlook for the country, which has the fourth-highest level of chronic malnutrition in the world, and the highest in Latin America. According to the World Food Programme, nearly 50 percent of children under five years old are considered chronically malnourished in Guatemala, a measure that peaks to 90 percent or higher in many rural areas.
Meanwhile, the US is now criminalizing and prosecuting people who leave life sustaining water along the migration routes in hopes of preventing some of these deaths. They aren't going to stop trying to come - the problem isn't a "pull" problem, it's a "push" problem where severe conditions are pushing people out. They'll keep coming because they see their children starving if they stay.
But they are the "horrible" parents?
