First, Trump cannot govern on polls, his team needs to do a better job of marketing. If this were the calm speaking Trump of the 1980s, when he was a debonair and intellectual presenter, Americans would realize how much good he has done on the economic side with the $1000 to newborns, this is HUGE for families and it is grossly undersold, I would be telling parents "your kids could have $100k+ by the time they are 21, his executive action to deny corporate purchasing of matrimonial homes etc.
Trump in the 1980s would have calmly presented this with confidence and citizens would internalize it as they did the Trump brand which he was so good at promoting.
As it were, these losses will force Trump to get a big win in USMCA negotiations which occur in June. This means he will probably negotiate with Mexico and secure a separate deal, Canada will have to capitulate market access as ANY free market nation would and perhaps for once Canadian consumers will win.
Market access is important to Trumps wins to ensure U.S companies can produce in America and export to Canada and elsewhere, It is worth trillions over decades of access. His team will be pushing dairy, banking (The "Big Four" in Canada are all worth the most for a reason, this is a huge opportunity for the U.S if they gain access, literally hundreds of billions in PROFITS a year), telecom etc.
It should be a win/win but Canadian consumers continue to be screwed over just as we do in regards to our human rights here. These losses for Trump could end up being a consumer boon for Canadians if all goes well.
