As much fun as I have poking fun at Lisa, I'm going to try for some serious answers this time.
We have a number of problems.
- Antisemites deny the problem in order to be able to continue their upswing
Well, first, we need to work on definitions. It's kind of stupid to complain about "anti-Semitism" when the Arabs are also considered a Semitic people. Not to mention that "Semite" is an outdated racial term based on people who couldn't separate their religion from their science. There are no "Semites" because Noah and Shem never existed. They're a myth.
So a better term would be 'Anti-Zionist" (which is very sensible) or "anti-Jew" (which is a little more problematic).
The first can be easily dispensed with. Being anti-Zionist is perfectly acceptable. What Israel is doing in Palestine is a crime against humanity.
Anti-Jewish, though. Is it okay to criticize a religion if you don't agree with it? I'm an atheist. I don't think there is a God who considers you his special people. A Christian doesn't consider you special because Jesus made a new covenant with everyone. A Muslim considered you "the People of the Book", but they have a real problem with you taking their land.
The sensible, politically correct answer is to respect everyone's beliefs. The more pragmatic answer is that if someone's religion makes them act in a shitty way, their religion is fair game.
Blacktivists downplay it because they resent that Jews are so successful in the face of such horrible antisemitism, as it gives the lie to their insistence that the problems with the black underclass is due to racism (rather than their own behavior)
Um, okay, here's the thing. You don't get points for stuff that happened in other countries.
Were Jews in America Slaves?
Were they prohibited from owning property in certain neighborhoods?
Were they denied loans?
Were they systematically denied the vote?
Jews weren't any worse off than any other non-WASP immigrant group. They were discriminated against for maybe one generation before they assimilated. I could complain that my Father and Grandfather experienced anti-German discrimination. But by the time it got to my generation, it became a moot point. My now extended family includes Poles, Lithuanians, Mexicans, Chinese, Irish, Dutch, Cherokee, and probably a few others I've forgotten or don't know about.
Same with the Jews. The only walls are the ones you maintain yourselves.
There is a double standard where even minimal shows of what COULD be racism (like the Aunt Jemima syrup logo) are met with outrage, while calls of “Death to Jews” are defended as free speech
I wasn't aware of Aunt Jemima going on a genocidal rampage in Gaza.
Here was the thing. What you want is for the campuses to suppress any criticism of Israel. We have this little thing in America called "The First Amendment". People are free to say whatever they want. If idiots want to cosplay as Nazis and march down the street in Skokie, IL, they are free to do that. I'd rather they didn't.
I would also be opposed if the Government stepped in and forced PepsiCo to change the name if they didn't want to. But it shouldn't have taken the company's owners 120 years to realize that THIS was offensive.
and finally, American Jews so cemented to “liberalism” that they choose to vote for the Party where most antisemitism is emanating, or, worse, actually rally behind a Nazi
First, there's no proof that Platner is a "Nazi". Sorry, getting a tattoo when you are young and stupid isn't a political affiliation. While the man has said some really stupid shit on social media, they haven't been able to find one quote that can be interpreted as "Nazi". It's this kind of hysteria that keeps you from being taken seriously.
Secondly, I suspect a lot of Jews are kind of embarrassed by what is going on in Israel. They don't like paying $5.00 a gallon for gas anymore than the goyim do.
Third, the GOP is becoming increasingly indistinguishable from Christian Nationalism, and frankly, that wouldn't be a good deal for Jews. If you want to get down to it, most of the worst examples of historical anti-Semitism weren't carried out by Muslims; they were carried out by so-called Christians (The Spanish Inquisition, the Russian Pogroms, the Holocaust).
