Jesse T. Smith, a Democrat running for Congress from Alabama, issued a tweet Monday comparing Republicans to ISIS, the terrorist organization beheading children in Iraq, Buzzfeed said. AL.com said the timing of Smith's tweet will ensure it gets more attention, given the news that another journalist was beheaded.
"The greatest country on earth is being bullied from within," he said on Twitter. "Actions of Republicans in congress are worse than #ISIL." Predictably, his tweet sparked anger from a number of people.
