Thomas Edison never invented that lightbulb. See it was a black guy. This is what happens when you allow your history to be stolen.

UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. Creepy, Sleepy, Groper Joe is THE worst presidential candidate I've seen in my lifetime, and I was born in 1961. He is pitiful AND pathetic.

Filament for Light BulbLewis Latimer invented the carbon filament in 1881 or 1882? No!
English chemist/physicist Joseph Swan experimented with a carbon-filament incandescent light all the way back in 1860, and by 1878 had developed a better design which he patented in Britain. On the other side of the Atlantic, Thomas Edison developed a successful carbon-filament bulb, receiving a patent for it (#223898) in January 1880, before Lewis Latimer did any work in electric lighting

You have to feel sorry for the guy. He obviously is suffering and his people are trying to prop him up. They are probably telling him all sorts of lies just so he will keep going.
During his so called speech he started rambling about taxes then lost his way and claimed he had better stop or he would be shot.
Did he really think he was in danger?

His wife must not give a shit about her husband to allow him forward in this process. Poor old bastard shortening his already pathetic life every single day in this pursuit.

...some liberal poster on USMB tried to pull that crap over on us......he listed a bunch of ''inventions'' by blacks---but they weren't inventions at all

If you read wikipedia, Latimer invented a new process for manufacturing carbon filaments.

He was late. He made no meaningful contribution. Just more black myths to teach for black history month. Biden is a fool

That is right. No black man invented the light bulb! Technically, neither did Edison really. People all over from America to Europe had been working to develop a practical source of electric light for many years based on a number of technologies, with each making small contributions. The main problem was finding a material that would both incandesce and do so bright enough at a low enough power AND have a commercially practical lifespan that you weren't changing out bulbs every day.

Many things were tried and I think it wasn't until after Edison that the switch to tungsten filament was found to further improve it, but Edison mainly got the official credit because he created a complete SYSTEM and was the first to be able to DEMONSTRATE it to investors, that made electric light rudimentary practical by offering a means of DC generation, a wiring circuit to distribute the power AND the light bulb, which was enough to provide electric light for a few city blocks around New York.

But it wasn't until Tesla developed and proved AC generation that electric light and power truly became marketable to the masses by making available widespread power generation across long distance.

Actually....Edison did not invent the lightbulb, AND a black inventor improved it.

He always seems to know when he goes into la la land. I wonder if he starts seeing cartoon characters or flying elephants?

Thomas Edison filed a lot of patents, that's for sure. Always at law in the patent office with some new machine, invention, or scheme of some sort. Some guys are too smart for their own good. Good old Albert Einstein was a clerk at the patent office, too, deciding whether or not others' legal claims to exclusive rights over some device or invention qualified for government protection and law enforcement.

Black guys I'm sure, also had light bulbs, cotton gins, and weaving looms that were programmable with punched cards long before IBM showed up on the scene. They weren't exactly welcome at the patent office or as plaintiffs in court.
