The reason for inflation is that consumers are being gouged by big business. CEOs are even admitting this. Oil companies are keeping supplies low to keep prices high. Refiners are even screwing consumers now. Also too many industries are oligopolies with little or no competition so they can dictate prices because you have nowhere else to go. Meat producers are looking at setting up their own processing plant because they are being screwed by the big meat companies. All you have to do is look at their financial statements. If they are raising prices because of inflation then they should be making about the same amount of money they were making pre-pandemic. Yet companies are making more money than they have in decades. Many investment companies have also talked about the extraordinary profits that companies are making. Clearly companies are using inflation as a excuse to fatten their profits.
They know that Republicans will ignore this because Republicans are more interested in gaining political power than they are in helping people. Once they have that, they will take steps to ensure that they cannot be voted out. Inflation will go away but the Republican fascism will cause permanent damage to the country.
At least part of Trump's term was under the pandemic. For example, oil was selling for literally peanuts. Now companies have discovered they can get away with raising prices to fatten their profits. Until consumers say that they will not pay these prices, inflation will persist. For example, one analysis that uses company financial statements determined that 60% of the inflation is due to companies fattening their profits.

Food costs & everything else is high because of fuel prices. Oil producers are refusing to increase production because they're making record profits from the shortage that they're responsible for.
