Biden test-drives an electric Ford pickup truck

Heard on the news today that folks with battery-powered cars are trading them in for gas powered cars due to lack of charging stations and increasing rates for home chargers. Tesla owners are the exception though.

Story at a glance:
  • Eighteen percent of EV owners go back to gas power, and the number jumps to 20 percent if they are hybrid drivers.
    • Some of the reason boils down to how easy it is to charge the cars.
    • Tesla owners are the least likely EV owners to return to gas-powered cars.

"Here, on the basis of results from five questionnaire surveys, we find that PEV discontinuance in California occurs at a rate of 20% for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle owners and 18% for battery electric vehicle owners. We show that discontinuance is related to dissatisfaction with the convenience of charging, having other vehicles in the household that are less efficient, not having level 2 (240-volt) charging at home, having fewer household vehicles and not being male."

If Ford delivers on this electric truck and it does what they say it can do, it will pave the way for electric vehicles in this country

Biden liked it

People will also love the built-in generator that can power campsites, electric tools, and even homes in a power outage.
That is cool
I have a power inverter on my F-150
Comes in handy

That is why the electric F-150 is a game changer
Once the most popular vehicle in the US goes electric, the charging stations will come.
Can no longer claim there isn’t a market

Electric vehicle owners are going to have a rude shock a few years down the line when they want to sell it.
Because people aren't going to buy a used EV knowing that very soon it's gonna need its expensive batteries replaced.
Tesla estimates complete battery pack replacement will be around $20,000
Used car lots will be full of EV's being sold for pennies on the dollar. ...

They have been saying that for years. So far the infrastructure is not adequate. I heard the price of that truck is a little less than the Tesla which is 75K or more. The kind of folks that drive f-150s won't have the bucks especially if Biden and the Democrats continue to ruin Trump's great pre-fake pandemic economy.

The F-150 is a game changer.

The infrastructure will come. Biden is already funding it in his infrastructure bill

Also, there are no solar, wind, battery powered factories to churn out those batteries. I had a Highlander Hybrid. It was a great car but, the AC went out and it cost more than the car was worth to fix it at the time so I had to sell it to a gear head. The battery never failed but, other stuff did and because of the car's unique nature, the cost of repair was astronomical.

No one who actually cares about the environment should be considering electric cars.

Biden made an unscheduled visit to a Ford driving course at which safety tests are normally conducted, and had the opportunity to test drive the new Ford F-150 Lightning -- the electric vehicle Ford is manufacturing at a plant in Dearborn, Michigan.
"This sucker's quick," said Biden, donning aviator sunglasses,

Anyone here ready to lay out the 'chicken scratch' for one of these?

Pricing and Which One to Buy

Lariat-$70,000 (est)
King Ranch-$80,000 (est)
Platinum-$90,000 (est)
Limited-$100,000 (est)

'Expect a starting price of around $70,000 with loaded models going into the six-figure range.'

Biden can afford one because he is using your tax dollars.
