Jerusalem probably did exist as a Jebusite fortress.. We know the Natufians lived at Jericho.
Yes, of course, it did, but it was not a Jewish fortress at the time of the invasion, you know, when Joshua led the Israeli army. Joshua didn't draw his invading army from the Jebusite city of Canaan as you unwittingly avered in the other thread. Jebus, which was merely an ethnic allusion to Jerusalem was still held by the Canaanites. It was King David more than 300 years later who conquered Jerusalem.
Joshua never had a big army and he didn't destroy any Canaanite cities.
David bought the "threshing floor" (temple mount ) from the Jebusites.
Joshua 15:63
But the descendants of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the descendants of Judah.
LOL! You're moving the goal posts again! Joshua's army consisted of approximately 136,000 men ready for battle, with roughly 40.000 of these leading the invasion. The other 464.000 young men of fighting age apparently were not trained, battle-ready soldiers. What has the size of the Israeli army to do with Joshua drawing his army from the city of Jerusalem more than 300 years before Jerusalem was even conquered by David, as you stupidly claimed in the other thread?
Your less than impressed opinion regarding the relative size of Joshua's army has absolutely nothing to do with your original claim, let alone with the price of beans in China, as it were.
Also, what is your point regarding Joshua 15:63? What is your point regarding David's purchase of the threshing floor on Mount Moriah approximately 300 years after the time of Joshua 15:63 and before the conquest of Jerusalem?
What the beep!
