Record backlog of ships at California ports amid supply chain crisis

157 ships waiting at ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach

The number of ships waiting to enter two of California’s busiest ports hit a record on Monday as labor shortages wreak havoc on the global supply chain.

According to data from the Marine Exchange, a total of 157 ships are waiting at ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach. As of Monday, 100 ships are at anchor and 57 are at berths as the U.S. grapples to find a solution to the situation.

The global supply chain shortage is the latest crisis to impact the country’s economy after being rattled and nearly dismantled by the COVID-19 pandemic. During a statement last week, President Biden asked the private sector businesses to "step up" and assist the administration’s efforts to address the supply chain situation ahead of the holiday season.

I was worried by your thread title that Biden voters were idol worshiping a politician like fools the way you yokels did to Trump. Glad to see that wasn't the case.

Bejeezus i just fell out of my seat, laughing my ass off, when i realized the joke you just make, even though having all that cargo out on the ocean ready to sink, isnt anything to joke about. I live near Jacksonville, and we had such a get out the boat, for Trump rally, it was great. Not like this Lets Go Brandon brainless guy, who couldnt wipe his ass.

Maybe the cargo ships will start flying the Fuck Joe Biden, signs, i bet real quick they would be taken off the high seas, as such an embarrassment to the Biden Admin...

First they blamed the shortage on Truck Driver's which is a crock of bullcrap. Trucker's can't get loaded, and therefore they are waiting in limbo at the ports in hopes that the issue will be resolved quickly. Undoubtedly this is all by design, otherwise why this is taking place, but who is actually behind it, and what is the end goal of it all ??

Heraldo of Fox news casually mentions to the cast of the five in effect saying, "hey I bet all those Mexicans or illegals(?) coming over the border or from within Mexico could drive those truck's with temporary Visa's or green cards".

How many manufacturing jobs were created under Trump?

We can reshore manufacturing jobs, but Trump hasn’t done itTrade rebalancing, infrastructure, and climate investments could create 17 million good jobs and rebuild the American economy

It is important to note that the Trump administration has a habit of issuing press releases citing plans for major foreign investments in the U.S. that never materialize. In July 2017 Foxconn announced—to great fanfare from the White House–plans to invest $10 billion and bring “thousands of new American jobs” to Wisconsin and elsewhere in the United States (White House 2017). News reports indicate that Foxconn’s buildings in Wisconsin were still empty as of April 2020 (Dzieza and Patel 2020).1

But offshoring has in fact continued throughout this time, as reflected in changes in the total number of U.S. manufacturing plants, shown in Figure A. Overall, the U.S. has suffered a net loss of more than 91,000 manufacturing plants and nearly 5 million manufacturing jobs since 1997. Nearly 1,800 factories have disappeared during the Trump administration between 2016 and 2018 (BLS 2020; U.S. Census Bureau 2020a, 2020b). The U.S. has experienced a net loss of manufacturing plants (establishments) in every year from 1998 through 2018 (the most recent year for which data are available).

Trump’s trade policies have cost thousands of U.S. manufacturing jobsAction is urgently needed to rebuild the manufacturing sector after the coronavirus pandemic
