President Joe Biden confirmed in an interview with USA Today that he is considering preemptive pardons for Dr. Anthony Fauci and former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney.

Following Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter (after months of insisting he would not do so), Politico reported that the president was considering pardoning those he thinks President-elect Donald Trump may target, including Fauci, Cheney and Democratic California Sen. Adam Schiff. Biden told USA Today that he has not made a decision on whether or not he will pardon them in his last 12 days in office and that it depends on who Trump appoints to his cabinet.

Comment:
Fauci should be investigated.
I don't think that preemptive pardons are even legal.
Biden is the only president to attempt to pardon people before they have been convicted.

I believe Biden is going to blanket pardon anyone the Republicans have attacked for political reasons.

If he pardons Fauci, we definitely need an investigation…because all that tells me is Biden is complicit with Fauci in some serious shit.

That is why Hunter got an 11 year blanket pardon.

Truly precedent.

I cannot wait for Trump to give out 75 million lifetime pardons. We have the precedent of jurisprudence by Biden…the quantity and duration should not matter.

Lifetime federal pardon for EVERY TRUMP VOTER!

How can Biden pardon Fauci? He hasn't been tried and convicted yet for the murders he was responsible for.

Constitutionally, probably legal. Whether advisable, is something else, especially if no legal charges have ever filed. After all, accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt of some criminal act, charged or not. It does nothing, regarding lawsuits in our litigious society, that I am aware of.

I don't know.

  • Ex parte Garland (1866): Affirmed the President’s ability to issue pardons at any point after a federal offense.

It seems to me that if the above is the case anyone pardoned has to be charged with a federal crime first.

That said it's not gonna help Fauci in state courts or in civil suits.

I am normally with you, but this shoulda/woulda/coulda nonsense has to stop. If he pardons him, we hammer them all, but until then we are wasting energy on something, that is useless to our agenda!
