Biden Handed Republicans A Shovel And They Just Can’t Stop Digging

We do worry about the votes of dead people. They vote Democrat.
Really?

Since Tuesday’s State of the Union, President Joe Biden has had Republicans on the ropes over Social Security and Medicare, and he’s not backing down. After his resounding State of the Union victory, Biden took his win on the road to Florida and Wisconsin. Those happen to be the home states of the senators with the most radical proposals for killing off the programs.

Oddly, those senators—Rick Scott (FL) and Ron Johnson (WI)—decided to just keep digging. They lent a shovel to Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) over the weekend, who went on CNN Sunday to tell Jake Tapper that he looks at Social Security like defense spending, something that should be “managed” every year by Congress.

The only thing that’s going to get managed is the Presidents plan to expand the programs, and make those losers billionaire donors pay for it.
Ummm we have an invasion and high inflation

It is funny to watch Joe playing trump supporting Republicans like a fiddle. If the Republican minority that publicly support cutting Social Security, keep it up, they may be solely responsible for Re-Electing Joe, out of their own sheer stupidity on their losing issue.
That's why McConnell gets catatonic when Rick Scott & Ron Johnson, The Golddust Twins appear on Sunday news shows ranting & raving about SS & Medicare.

Keep up the good work, guys!

How does he have them on the ropes? By making a statement that wasn’t exactly true, and then when the repubs tell him that it isn’t going to happen, Biden does a victory lap saying “I made them change their minds!”?

Biden isn’t going to make billionaires pay anything. It’s just hype to energize the democrat base. If they wanted to raise taxes on the rich, they would have done it already. Back when they had a complete majority under Obama, they could have passed a massive tax hike, they didn’t. Just like when Biden pat himself on the back for the 15% minimum corporate tax he got..why didn’t he go for the gusto and make it 40%? The left always talking about the rich paying their fair share, but, when they have the chance….never seem to follow through with it.

Lol, Biden made a false statement and when the repubs correct him, the left says “look how Biden is playing them!”

If social security and Medicare are ill-managed and unlikely to be able to continue as currently set up, then if you like the concepts of social security and Medicare, you should probably want them to be investigated and maybe replaced by a program that has a proper and valid foundation.

It doesn’t mean the elimination of the programs. But it can be overhauled in a manner that doesn’t deny current or near future recipients of anything they have paid into. Why not look into that?

He got the entire GOP to commit to not bargaining over social security in the debt ceiling battle

That’s huge win

Zzz.

False.

All that has been established is that it won’t be the subject of any subset provision.

Right now, it isn’t on the table.

But instead of continually kicking the problem down the road, at some point sooner or later (better sooner), the discussion will have to take place.

Little petty efforts made by the conmen handling President Potato can’t hold that off forever.

I never said to "do nothing". I even posted a list of changes and amendments to the original legislation since it was passed to show that it's entirely possible to amend the legislation without scraping it and starting over.

No one is saying to do nothing, but this idea of tossing out every 5 years, is just looking for the right moment to get rid of them. You need to be working on things like immigration and police reform, and instead you're now re-litigating Roe, and trying to overturn voting rights.

Current problems will never be addressed if you keep going back to things that were solved years ago and keep relitigating them over and over again. Civil rights, public education, climate change, and abortion should have been settled years ago.

The USA is falling behind the rest of the first world in education, infrastructure and political stability. Your life expectancy is declining. You're headed to second world status if you don't start addressing the 21st Century problems and rebuild your middle class.

The strong social safety net is a very necessary piece of a strong and vibrant capitalist economy. The measure of a great nation is not based on how well the richest among you live, but rather how well the poorest among you live. And that's not very well at all.
And yet millions of poor people are bum rushing our borders to get INTO the US? The poorest among us live rather well actually compared to other places!

You mean the GOP whose leader stated quite clearly the DAY BEFORE THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE TOUCHING SOCIAL SECURITY?

Claiming that as a "win" for Biden borders on farce!

You’re talking about Rick fucking Scott. He was caught scamming over healthcare and dumbass Republicans still elected him

While he was CEO of a healthcare company his company was fined a billion and a half for Medicare/Medicaid fraud
Are you REALLY stupid enough to think that a Florida Senator is going to get rid of Social Security? THINK, Lesh!!!! THINK!!!!

If you are a Floida guy and you like him, makes no difference to me.
I am a Florida guy and I'm not a big fan of Rick Scott. That doesn't change the fact that there is no way on God's Green Earth that he's trying to get rid of Social Security. Rick likes being a Senator! Why would he commit political suicide? You know he never had any intention of doing what Biden is claiming...yet you won't admit it. That's pathetic!

Three-Quarters of House GOPs Endorsed Social Security Cuts Last Year

‘Republicans are now aghast that anyone would be claiming they want to cut Social Security. But last year the Republican Study Committee — a House caucus which includes about 75% of all House Republicans — released a proposed 2023 budget which included basically every kind of Social Security cut on offer.

The Blueprint to Save America proposed raising the eligibility age at first to 70 and then higher if and when life expectancy goes up; it proposed cutting (or in their words “modernizing”) the benefit formula for everyone currently 54 and under; means-testing Social Security benefits; including work requirements for some Social Security beneficiaries; and allowing people to divert payroll taxes into private investment accounts — aka “retirement freedom.”’

“retirement freedom”

Conservatives – masters of Orwellian dishonesty and deceit.
What is your solution?

Just wait until the older people aren't in the numbers they are now, once all the immigrants get their pardon and get the local votes.
What year is that, Marty? Are you pushing for alien citizenship now? They ain't voting Federal. Without citizenship, I wouldn't let them vote for school board, dogcatcher or queen of a beauty pageant and certainly don't see it in my state.
