Biden DOJ Sides with Porn Industry's Lawsuit Against Texas's Age Verification Law

And any 13 YO child knows how to get a fake ID....or their parents or neighbor's or some other ID that will be sufficient to bypass the gate controls.

Having an ID does nothing to a computer.

It's a start. At least it makes it more difficult and nothing is ever fool proof

That doesn't have anything to do with them being KKK members and with them not having any business with the school. They'll turn away anyone who doesn't have business at the school. If a KKK member was a parent of a child going to that school then they couldn't be denied access. Bigots get to have their kids attend public schools too. :itsok:

^^^Trust this guy, he's a KKK supporter and knows what he's talking about.

Absolutely.

This law will do absolutely nothing to stop that.
If it won’t stop minors, then it won’t stop anyone. Therefore, the porn companies would have no standing for a case.

Difficult?
Not even.....
It actually makes things worse. Not better. Its a false assumption a photo ID will work and not be shared between children. If I was a child in this situation I would surf a VPrinciple ID and use that to deliberately access child porn to incriminate the man. I would even use it to create a website to host the most disgusting porn I could find just to besmirch his name knowing I could get away with it on school and public library computers.

Just because I was an angry and vindictive 13 y.o. child.

If I could access AI to create photo and video files I would do so even better....just because when I got angry and "stopped " I could always find a workaround.....it became a challenge and never a hard stop due to illegality.
That's just how some children are wired...I was one of them once upon a time. I'm old GenX....we were raised differently.

It’s not about the case or any of these companies. It’s about how the internet works. Some companies will absolutely follow the law or face consequences.

That won’t stop the internet from being filled with porn especially with websites not hosted in the US.

It most certainly is. Just stop, ya got ***** slapped and went further stupid
No, it isn't. It's just another chip in our freedom, our rights. Another tiny step towards the fascism you kids desire so badly.

Our children are raised to know it's wrong... that and we have a delightful app called Bark, it alerts me anytime they are where they shouldn't be

And when you purchase porn online you have to go through the same verification process.

Can it technically be called the porn industry if what they are selling are ads, rather than porn? The porn they are giving away on these websites.

You have to be over 18 or 21 to enter a vape shop, same with a porn store. Online vape shop do ask if you're of age to shop, but yes purchase requires ID, because just viewing vape products doesn't really work.
The same can't be said regarding porn viewing compared to purchasing.

I find it curious why anyone would be upset about a layer to protect children

Again, you're providing an example of a store front. You entering a porn website is more like visiting someone's MySpace page than going to a store to buy things that are regulated.

Ah, yes.

You have a point there. These laws will have the commercially viable sites, regulating their viewers, but it won’t stop kids from getting access to plenty of other porn, including soft porn easily available on YouTube.

When I was a kid, the laws didn’t stop me and my friends from looking in trash cans for Playboy either. But nobody suggested that all the convenience stores simply sell adult magazines to children.

Would you have in those days?

It’s a matter of efficacy. The law is pretty effective at keeping porn mags from being sold to kids because it’s not exactly easy to find them in trash cans.

Meanwhile the law makes no difference in the easy of which a kid could find porn on the internet.

All you’re really doing is making a database of people’s government IDs online for hackers to steal.

That’s a fair point.

But, it has nothing to do with the first amendment, nor with whether the DOJ should be spinning tax dollars helping porn, distributors with their cases.

Indiana has the law, evidently you have to verify by supplying a DL or government issued ID
and how well is that working?

You don’t think there are easy ways to bypass that? How hard is it to take a snapshot of a parent’s DL?

You people really underestimate your own kids

Maybe. I don’t know what the legal standards are here. There are competing interests and the chilling effect on free speech is one of them.

This is another jaw-dropping example of how far into the gutter the woke liberal mind has gone. Texas, along with many other states, requires porn sites to verify that viewers are over 18 before allowing them to access the women-degrading, soul-destroying content. You'd think that nobody but the porn industry would object to this commonsense law, this basic protection of children from viewing porn.

But, the Biden Department of Justice, along with the ACLU, has filed a "friend of the court" brief in support of the porn industry's lawsuit against the Texas law! Predictably, the porn peddlers argue that the law "overly burdens" the ability of adults to access legal porn--yeah, never mind that the "legal porn" portrays women as nothing but sex objects who can be urinated on, anally penetrated, double penetrated, slapped, tied up, etc., etc. So much for the dignity of women, hey? And never mind that the law makes it much harder for minors to access porn sites.

By the way, the Texas age verification law passed the Texas legislature with an overwhelming majority. A similar law was approved unanimously by the Kentucky legislature.
