CA did away with their death penalty only to bring it back--but the dems won't enforce it and in the case of Scott Peterson who murdered his wife and unborn child, they reduced his sentence and are entertaining an appeal to let him out of prison. Democrats have no respect for innocent lives.

The guy turned himself in before he attempted the deed

thus this is not a open and shut case of attempted murder

Two things - attempted failed murder and intent

Obviously the intent was there but the attempt is a problem. Driving to the location and then calling the police on himself makes this not a normal case. This also cast some doubt into intent as he changed his mind. It also shows that he does trust his decision making capability and has mental problems.

He will go to jail at some point but there was no attempt and may get a lessor sentence Sure driving to the location may be considered attempt but sitting in the car and calling the police does not show attempt.
