First off the Filibuster was around long before the Dems's created Jim Crow....secondly...as highlighted, it was used and supported by Xiden and Obama...it's a tool that's been around since Rome. It's a tool used by legislatures to do, what tyrants hate, to slow the process down, to have open debate, to give people a chance to see what in fact is being proposed.

On ending the filibuster in 2005: "It is not only a bad idea, it upsets the constitutional design and it disservices the country,....No longer would the Senate be that ‘different kind of legislative body’ that the Founders intended. No longer would the Senate be the ‘saucer’ to cool the passions of the immediate majority." Quid Pro Xiden

Um the graph shows a massive uptick in votes in the early 2000s when the dems had the minority in the Senate and Bush was President..

Nobody really took issue with the filibuster until the early 2000s when the Dems, after not accepting the election results, felt justified in blocking all of Bush's appointments. At that point, there was talk of the nuclear option on judicial picks because of the massive backlog in the Courts due to the left's obstruction....the GOP of course didn't do it, and compromised with the left to get judges on the bench.

Fast forward, when the Dems had power and Obama was President, the GOP thought they too could potentially get some compromises, since it worked for the Dems...but the Dems didn't want to compromise, so they went nuclear on Judicial picks...now they want to do so with legislation.
