So they aren't going through federal channels like congress and instead seeking to shortcut things by having a court extend it.
It's one thing to spy on foriegn nations but it's been abused thousands of times to spy on American citizens like campaign donors, protestors, elected officials and so on.

Expect this to get much worse as they start implementing AI into their surveillance and setting it up to only find things they want to find out about people that politically oppose them. This will be a targeting weapon used against anyone that isn't on their side
